'Q if ' 7-1111. fan ex Waking up one morning to the sounds of bells and laughter, we took our first step to an appreciation of nature. We longed to have wings - to scan the shore with the Seagulls , hovering above the waves in the ocean breeze. We wanted their freedom 5 the freedom and the time that we would need to reap the feelings that would soon be planted in the meadows of our consciousness. S 'Q But we were too young. So we made ftiends with storybook characters, hushed puppies and sunbeams and lived each day awaiting something new. Shooting stars then beckoned us to follow, and we became lost in quiet daydreams. Feeding off love with a silver spoon, l we enjoyed the comfort and secured the tranquility that echoed from the leaves and trees growing side by side. We could feel the earth generating a spirit which soon enveloped even the rays of sunlight and the blades of grass. Accepting the challenge it offered us , we began our quest for complexity in the simple things. Our demand for knowledge increased and our inquisitiveness became more and more a part of us. f-'WT' ' I ,,4v ' . iv if .lx Q .. r vt-. g cv ,, FK, Each day we watched the sunset mystify our souls. X-, A 7 Return creation to a time when we could smile Shout with joy at the free and easy way life seemed to be. Picture once again the happy moments that soon fade into a sea of mangled thoughts. Be mindful of the promises we made and the excitement that we found in learning to accept responsibilities, so essential to maturity. Even when the clouds appeared to get a hold on our dreams, shattering our happiness and replacing it with woe, a gentle smile and the warmth of a close friends hand always chased those clouds away. Then the whole world sparkled, like a prism held before a rising sun. flsafq N! 9 Each year we mourn the death of summer, gaining another memory to store inside our weary minds. We grieve over lies that pass between us and the world and can't help but display the sadness inhabiting our souls. As the sands of time flow like water, we grip the thoughts that once possessed us - H. in , ,..,..,,..,,A. .-- - never wanting to let go. . -Y MT-. 'IO Bewildered, standing frightened beneath a tree in blazed horizons, we find we don't know half as much as we supposed. So many doors, still locked, are scattered throughout the land, each one harboring an experience we can gain wisdom from. Unaware, but still inquisitive, we stand before each one with terror surging deep within us. W '---mswffiill --. if X ff! i e I EQ ff. '79 Being a part both of sorrow and happiness has opened up our minds to a reality A ' .I A 1 1 We've watched our lives unfold like the wings of a butterfly, reach day getting brighter g andymore colorful to see. Sometimes sheltered memories got in our way e s but we were wise and realized life goes on and people change. i 12 l Sentimentally, we review the years before this. We laugh and think of silent walks Q down dirt strewn paths to tranquil bays. We see the sky in satin-tone, and embark upon another road to another phase of our existence. With help and encouragement, we plan out the future and envision the stage on which our lives will be portrayed. R 195 Field Faithful visitors to the Yearbook room, the colorful members of the CK. Field Team work out and exist in almost total unascertainty. Unknown except to a minority of the student body, the field team works out constantly in the areas of weight training, form and style development. Most important of all, the team achieved the realiza- tion that they can live out their years at CK. with the knowledge that they were a part of a team possessing skill and strength. 19 'QQN an- -UQ W3 V f Also coached by Mr. Edward Musselwhite, the fresh- men track team is on its way to becoming a prominant factor in the CK. track world. It is another team able to bring to actuality the great athletic spirit present at CK. a ,4 198 ? .J 3, 199 Cross Country Lost in the wake of all the attention being paid to the Girls Track Team, one tends to overlook the achievements, both past and present, that C.K.'s Boys Cross-Country Track Team has claimed. Although the team was unable to break the school's cross-country medal record set last year, CK. still fielded a strong tam. Mr. Musselwhite, the Varsity Track coach, gave his runners the leadership needed to in- still the drive and determination which is all important in their highly competitive athletic endeavors. The competition is tough and each race is one more struggle against both the opposition and themselves. a 4444 : 444: : Nov. 9, 1974 4 . . Sunsplashed . ,4 Crosswinds on the flats ,. . Under the direction of Mr. Peter Farrell, the girl's track team has aptly proven itself to be one of the best contingents of female track talent in New York City. Led by the Junior sensation, Maureen O'Driscoll, the team is a proud collection of hard working girls all harboring a common goal. This fact has become evident as they have proved their superiori- ty over their opponents in meet after meet of track competition. S Ei T QST . Q . T RIS 1 KI!-kg Q, ENE T 203 s ' ' Varsity Field Freshman 4 W 1- Girls And Volleyball As the season drew to a close, the Girls Varsity Volleyball Team saw its dreams of a playoff berth destroyed. Three games remaining with what ended up to be the top three teams in the league, a win in almost anyone of them would have meant a guaranteed spot in the post-season playoff. The coach Miss Surman tried all conceivable combinations in an attempt to get the team together, but all attempts were futile. The l.V. team was not in serious contention for the entire season, but they still remained highly competitive. As with the varsity, Miss Surman also coaches the l.V. team.
