As we were watching I recognized the great opera star as Carol Harris Helen sald that she read ln the latest T V Magazine that she was still interested ln the national guard About 11 50 another couple of old friends dropped by for a midnight snacs, Donnie and Mildred Rebel, Mildred Montgomery when I last saw her They had just returned from honsymoonlng ln Cuba They decided to mix business with pleasure and go to a concrete blcca conventlon After a long gossip session and a high time, I decided lt was time for me to go baca to my hotel room and hlt the sac: I rounded the corner swaying slesplly as I entered the hotel and came upon Martin Cloln saying his last gcodnlghts to his glrl and being wide awaxe now I promptly drew myself back around the corner I thought to myself that the society column of Chrlsney would soon be announcing the elopement of Chrlsney's prominent business man I finally reached my room and met the maid and the Janitor Just coming out I recognized them as Jaunlta Leslle and Bernard Heoxle and just couldn't imagine why they d1dn't stop to say hello I fell into a deep slumber to tired to even have a nightmare As I was checaing out next day I met the manager and his wife, Charles and Glenda Held, my old girl frlend, Glenda Jacason They seemed to be very happy and dolng fine so after bidding them good day I bought a newspaper at Elmer Prices' newspaper office He and Beverly were dolng qulte well with their newspaper staff and by boosting that great politician George Hagan who was running for mayor on the Republican tloaet Some IR! 1t's because he married a Democrat wife but I can hardly thins of George as being hen pecaed but something had to cause the drastic changet' I opened the newspaper and read that Joyce and Jlmmle Johnson, the former Joyce Patmore, had Just returned to their 'lrlppe J' ranch several miles upstate, from Florida where Jimmie had been employed on a construct ion llne Elmer Prlce told me that only a few months after graduation they had snipped accross the border llne and had been on their honey moon ever slnce In the gossip column I read that another old frlend, Dorothy Flelshman, was announcing her engagement to a famous pllot and they were golng to fly to Paris and be married Next thing! someone shoved the paper ln my face I looked up and lo and behold who was lt but Erna Fosrtsch I learned she was ltlll couldn't mane up her mind which one to marry so they were going tc India where she could marry them both She told me she hated to leave as she had a fine Job ln an art studio, but when one was in love anything was possible especially with two' I walxed on up the corner of College ssemme and East Locust to vlslt school once again As I walled in I met the principal who was having a turn for the WOPBG with the coach, Garland Hagan I was surprised to learn that Ronnie May was still single but he sald that he just had so manv chances to get married he d1dn't snow which one to take I wished Garland good luox at the ballgame and was invited to stay for lunch They served a wonderful concotlon of etewed beans, based beans and scalloped potatoes I investigated the menu and found Violet Dugas ln the kitchen She was very happy, it seemed ls was leaving the Kitchen 1 bumped into the slndergarten teacher trying to herd all the youngsters and saw that it was Carol Ayer I yngy she had talked of being a teacher back ln school, but I hardly expected to see her teaching at Chrlsney We had quite a chat and she said that her best friend, Phyllis Stein Ayers, Jones, Smith was on her third honeymoon with her third husband She is employed ln the modeling agency in France, designing F1'0D0l bathing suits and lt is reported that she ls truly ln love for good this time I thought bacx to school times and remembered how much fun she always had and sorta wished more of the students had been as happy go-around I ended my visit to C R 8 and started bacx home by boarding an airplane and as I tcox my seat I noticed a familiar face behind me It was Marllou Thrasher so I seated myself down beside her and mmde myself Comfortable as I was sure I'd learn something more about my old friends Marllcu said that she was working as a receptionest ln West Virginia and was just going bacx from her vacation She was still waiting for her fiancee to come bacx from Germany I decided my trip had been very, very beneficial and I just wonder, 'could lt all ready be true?'
