I1 Flass Prophecy lay 16, 1964 Dear lr Phillips Isn't it strange in this day and age with atomic jets and rocket ships just how small the world really is? Just last week I was looking through all the things I kept from gy senior year and I decided to take a much needed trip so I could look up my classmates of 54 I decided to start in dear old Chrisney where I spent so many happy years The first stop I decided to make was at a restaurant My stomach had been feeling pretty empty so I sat down and found out to my surprise that Laddie Rust and his wife, Doris, now own the business While talking to Laddle we found another classmate, Janis Souder was at home taking care of Laddle's twin boys Walking on down the street, I came upon the Criminal Court building which was built after we graduated We went into and looked around and to our surprise it was Shirley Criss who had broken another traffic law, and was trying to get away with it Upon walking across the street, I was knocked down by an oncoming car I wasn't hurt but the driver of the car insisted on taking me to the hospital T our surprise the driver of the car was Linda Yearby Upon entering the hospital, who should I meet but Erma Smlthfthe former Erma Hall! who is a nurse While talking to her we found that Gerald Ludwig was also a doctor there While walking along the halls who should I bump into but Bennie Johnson The great psychiatrist, Patsy Bowman had told him to have his head examined at Woodmere's, but hs had gotten into the wrong hospital We talked to Bennie a while and found out that he wasn't by himself as Jenelne Lovell was there also She had a b case, every male she saw she thought he was her husband and yelled, '0op1e come back I thought this was enough of the mental institution, so I took off down the street and bumped into a sign I started looking up Dilger and Shirley McCoy, accompanied by the hot trombone player, J White This sounded good so in we went Selling tickets was none other than Frank Ready who had found his only love in Hollywood and was so excited about her that he could hardly tell us about another old chum, Winfield Thomas He was now Chr1sne 's heavyweight champion boxer The show was starting and we settled ourselves and who should we slt down by but Bobby Grubb just fresh back from Reno She said she just just couldn't get along with Doris She d1dn't quite know her future plans but she thought she's go back to modeling tight skirts for a New York agent, Leon Webe He was his same old self single and flirty especially with young girls 'unmarried' We had to quiet down as the show was in full swing and sway After the show we went backstage and dodged a prop to keep from being killed. W0 investigated the stupid accident and found David Lelstner talking to Duane Roos David was s traveling stage hand and Duane was trying to hire him for the main part in his new TV show We never made it to the girls' dressing room, but we found that Duane and David are still single and they were having a mighty high time On our way out we met Janet and Andrew McCormick who were having a little trouble with one of their four kids They were very happy and as we goseiped I found out that they were on their way to visit Helen and Don Alson, former Helen Sisley, and watch a show on their new colored TV set They invited me to go along and I must say that when all eight of their kids go together it sounded just like I was back at old C H S I . . 0 . . . ad - D up----up'--and what did I see! 'The Two Dancing Dames,' former Shirley As we were watching I recognized the great opera star as Carol Harris Helen sald that she read ln the latest T V Magazine that she was still interested ln the national guard About 11 50 another couple of old friends dropped by for a midnight snacs, Donnie and Mildred Rebel, Mildred Montgomery when I last saw her They had just returned from honsymoonlng ln Cuba They decided to mix business with pleasure and go to a concrete blcca conventlon After a long gossip session and a high time, I decided lt was time for me to go baca to my hotel room and hlt the sac: I rounded the corner swaying slesplly as I entered the hotel and came upon Martin Cloln saying his last gcodnlghts to his glrl and being wide awaxe now I promptly drew myself back around the corner I thought to myself that the society column of Chrlsney would soon be announcing the elopement of Chrlsney's prominent business man I finally reached my room and met the maid and the Janitor Just coming out I recognized them as Jaunlta Leslle and Bernard Heoxle and just couldn't imagine why they d1dn't stop to say hello I fell into a deep slumber to tired to even have a nightmare As I was checaing out next day I met the manager and his wife, Charles and Glenda Held, my old girl frlend, Glenda Jacason They seemed to be very happy and dolng fine so after bidding them good day I bought a newspaper at Elmer Prices' newspaper office He and Beverly were dolng qulte well with their newspaper staff and by boosting that great politician George Hagan who was running for mayor on the Republican tloaet Some IR! 1t's because he married a Democrat wife but I can hardly thins of George as being hen pecaed but something had to cause the drastic changet' I opened the newspaper and read that Joyce and Jlmmle Johnson, the former Joyce Patmore, had Just returned to their 'lrlppe J' ranch several miles upstate, from Florida where Jimmie had been employed on a construct ion llne Elmer Prlce told me that only a few months after graduation they had snipped accross the border llne and had been on their honey moon ever slnce In the gossip column I read that another old frlend, Dorothy Flelshman, was announcing her engagement to a famous pllot and they were golng to fly to Paris and be married Next thing! someone shoved the paper ln my face I looked up and lo and behold who was lt but Erna Fosrtsch I learned she was ltlll couldn't mane up her mind which one to marry so they were going tc India where she could marry them both She told me she hated to leave as she had a fine Job ln an art studio, but when one was in love anything was possible especially with two' I walxed on up the corner of College ssemme and East Locust to vlslt school once again As I walled in I met the principal who was having a turn for the WOPBG with the coach, Garland Hagan I was surprised to learn that Ronnie May was still single but he sald that he just had so manv chances to get married he d1dn't snow which one to take I wished Garland good luox at the ballgame and was invited to stay for lunch They served a wonderful concotlon of etewed beans, based beans and scalloped potatoes I investigated the menu and found Violet Dugas ln the kitchen She was very happy, it seemed ls was leaving the Kitchen 1 bumped into the slndergarten teacher trying to herd all the youngsters and saw that it was Carol Ayer I yngy she had talked of being a teacher back ln school, but I hardly expected to see her teaching at Chrlsney We had quite a chat and she said that her best friend, Phyllis Stein Ayers, Jones, Smith was on her third honeymoon with her third husband She is employed ln the modeling agency in France, designing F1'0D0l bathing suits and lt is reported that she ls truly ln love for good this time I thought bacx to school times and remembered how much fun she always had and sorta wished more of the students had been as happy go-around I ended my visit to C R 8 and started bacx home by boarding an airplane and as I tcox my seat I noticed a familiar face behind me It was Marllou Thrasher so I seated myself down beside her and mmde myself Comfortable as I was sure I'd learn something more about my old friends Marllcu said that she was working as a receptionest ln West Virginia and was just going bacx from her vacation She was still waiting for her fiancee to come bacx from Germany I decided my trip had been very, very beneficial and I just wonder, 'could lt all ready be true?'
