Wade, superintendent of Chowchilla Union High School. Under the leadership of Mr. Wade for the past three years our school has achieved many new honors. His in- terest in the academic, social and co-curricular activities of the school has given impetus to our entire student body. Under Mr. Wadels guidance the scholastic standards of the school have been raised, deserving students have earned scholarships, and the student government has been revised. The highest ideals of skill and sportsmanship have been achieved in all extra-curricular activities. We, the students of C.U.H.S. are grateful to Mr. Wade for his friendliness and concern for our entire school. , Hun, ,, , Pehiraieh in 'fi When others fail him, the wise man looks To the sure companionship of books. We have learned the value of good team work and co-operation, and we'vc experienced the excitement of increased knowledge and, above all, we've had fun. These qualities have been shown in the many activities, school and class, and the two plays. The plays, Seventeenth Summer and Our Hearts Were Young and Gay, were enthusiastically received by the student body and public. Also unusually large groups of our class are active in music, athletics, FFA, FHA, and the student council. The many CSF members and life members have been out- standing in the fields of science, business, homemaking, English, mechanics, agriculture, and mathematics. We, the members of the class of 1953, will always remember Chowchilli Hi and the fun and friends we've had here. JOHN WILLIAMS President 7 TWENTY-ONE AIRD, 'I'. fXI,I.IiN. Ii. ALVORIJ. B. HOLLY PHILLIPS Editor fllizt ifntrzthat From the preparation of the first dummy', to the time when students open their yearbooks, the staff, headed by Holly Phillips, editor, spends many hours doing write-ups, taking pictures, promot- ing sales, and securing advertisements. In the process of getting a well balanced annual to press, the co-operation of many different departments is required. Write-ups of the various activities and organizations were assigned to the staff and proofed by the copy editor, Ronald Gillaspy. Pictures were taken under the supervision of the editor and her two assistants. Delores McKissick and Mimi Burcher. Sales were promoted by Caylinn Spence with the aid of several class salesmen. In order to finance the yearbook by securing ads, Bob Becker filled the posi- tion of advertising manager. Other Staff members were Margaret Blanton, art editor, assisted by Sandra Murray, lilmadalc Cudgel, Ted Aird, and James Wil- liams. Supervising the entire project were the advisors: Mrs. F.
