Chowanoka Dedication It is quite appropriate that the 1980-81 Chowanoka be dedicated to a woman who has shown so much dedication to this college during the years of her employment. She carried out the respon- sibihties of her position most successfully. In doing so, she won the love, admiration and respect of those around her. This remarkable lady is Mrs. Marcella Coburn, former head resident of Belk Dorm. Mrs. Coburn ' s approach to life is a prime example of the Christian principles for which Chowan College stands. She revealed her Christian nature in the way she handled her job and herself. She displayed tact and good judgment in correcting any problems which occurred in the dorm. She is kind, understanding and a pleasant person to be around. Mrs. Coburn is well loved by all the girls in her dorm. She became their Mother away from home. She was the person the girls knew they could rely on. Also, many of the guys developed a close personal relationship with her The students of Chowan College wish to convey to Mrs. Coburn the knowledge that the dedica- tion of this yearbook is but a token of their appreciation for the services she rendered to them in the past years.
