I Ik ' m, all (il a sudden, the summer was over a students began returning to Chowan. One can i member that day especially well, seeing many pfo| returning that swore they would never again gaze upon the white pillars of the Columns Building. One could even hear a few unexpected, It ' s good back! The long awaited return brought cheers ami tears from the reuniting friends and lovers and there was a general feeling of excitement. Chowan is alive and kicking during the summer with many exciting things happening. Things like the time the garbage truck rolled into the lake and the air-conditioning broke down in West and lots other things that one ' s not suppose to know about. There was a great feeling of unity and harmony among the college community this summer. Students relied on each other for entertainment and enjoy- ment. It was a time when the faculty, staff, and students merged and mutually learned from each others ' experiences. There were many night time activities like watermelon feasts, the great home- made ice cream provided by Dean Lewis and the Pruettes, the tug of wars, and of course the talent show that was enjoyed by faculty, staff and students alike. Mostly, the nights offered a quiet peaceful lime to sit and listen to sounds of living that were going on all around us. Student Life Siimmerlife
