Vicki J. Tolston . . . Dean of Women James Earl Dilday . . . Dean of Men B. FRANKLIN LOWE, Dean of the College, was born in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. After graduation from Rock Hill High School, he received his B. A. from Furman University, his B. D. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and his Ph.D. from Emory University. He has two children and enjoys reading, stamp collecting, tennis, and fishing. VICKI J. TOLSTON, Dean of Women, was born in Nash County, North Carolina. She attended Red Oak High School, received her B. S. at Atlantic Christian College, received her M. A. Ed. at East Carolina University, and did post graduate study at University of North Carolina at Raleigh and University of Miami. At Chowan, Dean Tolston also serves as official college hostess and teaches Hygiene. She enjoys golf and other sports, refinishing old and antique furniture, gardening, reading, sketching, traveling, and people. JAMES EARL DILDAY, Dean of Men, is a graduate of Ahoskie High School where he was very active in sports and school organizations. He continued his interests at East Carolina University. Today he remains an active member of the community and his main hobbies are all types of sports. Dean Dilday has been coaching many years and is the director of Men ' s Intramurals. R. CLAYTON LEWIS, Dean of Students, brings to his position a wide background of experiences in education. Before coming to Chowan College six years ago, he had served as a junior high school teacher, a specialist in psychological warfare during the Korean War and a public school principal for 13 years. Dean Lewis teaches one section of Western Civilization 101. He thinks of it as a diversion and refers to it as Lewis ' Happy Hour. When asked about hobbies. Dean Lewis smiled and replied, I haven ' t always been a ' workolic ' . I used to have a horse. I ' ve always enjoyed music of all types, but jazz is my favorite. All of my spare time is spent working in our yard. Mrs. Lewis, our son, Hugh, and I have this as a family project. 27
