' ■ i m In the belief that this has been a truly momentous year in Chowan College ' s history, the 1958 Chowanoka Staff has selected, Toward New Horizons, as the Yearbook theme. The many and significant steps toward an ever-widening horizon that Chowan has taken this year, have inspired us to capture in the pages of this Yearbook, something of her future place of leadership in the field of Christian Higher Education. Because of the initiation and success of the Enlargement- Development Effort, Chowan College will soon be in a construction program which will see the seven proposed buildings become realities. Sketches of these proposed buildings will appear as division pages throughout the Yearbook. Chowan College now stands at the threshold of even greater service to the Northeastern North Carolina and Tidewater Virginia areas. Her steady advance Toward New Horizons will ever enable her to bring encouragement and assistance to the youth of these areas, as they move Toward New Horizons for themselves and for humanity.
