CHOUTEAU MAZIE PUBLIC SCHOOLS Memories of Dedication Administration Seventy Eight Seniors Juniors Sophomores Royalty Athletics Organizations Junior High Elementary Mazie Co-Editors Diane Penner Nanette Endicott Our annual is now complete, and we, the annual staff, are proud of our efforts. It has not been an easy task, but we have enjoyed every minute’s work toward the completion of another book of pleasant memories of the days at Chouteau-Mazie Schools. We appreciate the opportunity of serving our school as editors of the 1978 Wildcat, and we will always consider it an honor to have been selected for this position. - ' bcJCZLs (Sv dUxJ£Ct 2 Annual Staff Debbie Ladwig Senior Junior High. Held within its mystic unseen cords, we with difficulty can break away. Tammy Perkins Junior Typist Micky Roberts Junior Photographer Art Work Janet Freiner and Sherry James 3 Dedication Dale Vaught We. the yearbook staff, are pleased to dedicate the 1978 Wildcat to Dale Vaught. In the past sixteen years with us at Chouteau-Mazie he has led the Wildcats in basketball to more than 254 wins and had only 152 losses. He has taken his teams to Miami yearly capturing eight first place titles and in 1975 went to the state tournament. Besides coaching basketball and sixth and seventh grade football. Mr. Vaught also teaches history and careers. Words cannot express our gratitude for his many years of service. Board of Education Mack Earp. Superintendent: Pal Grossman. President: Jim Dooley. Clerk: Alfred Hagar. Vice-President: Tom Coblenlz, and Clifford Stout. Members. New Gym 5 Chouteau-Mazie Superintendent Mack Earp Seniors of 77-78 Each year at this time there are thousands of young people graduating from high schools throughout America. It is a time in life when new decisions must be made by each of you. It can be very frustrating to young people who do not have any idea of what they want to do in life. In some ways, may the efforts of the board of education, administration and faculty be helpful to you. REMEMBER, it is important that you choose, for your life's work, something you will be happy doing. REMEMBER too, I pray, your parents or guardians who have helped you through all the trials and tribulations in your young life. REMEMBER, with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” — Matt. 7:2 Sincerely Chouteau-Mazie Principals You are. at this point in your life, about to establish a pattern of life which will remain with you the rest of your life. Are you going to be satisfied with mediocrity or are you going to strive for excellence? Please remember what you have heard me say many times. Failure is not the missing of success, but the giving up of trying. Best wishes to the seniors of 1978. For others they'll remember the day at the award assembly w-hcn they received an award. Remembering all the fun you had on a class trip. Being so excited on the last day of school that you could flip. 16 For some life passes too fast, for others too slow But everyone will have memories no matter what they do or where they go. MEMORIES ARE FOREVER Author: Bertha Butler 18 Dear Seniors. Looking back on this year and all the other years we have taken many different paths. We have done a lot of work, but we have had a lot of fun too. As we go our separate ways, we will each find a place to work, to love, and to call home. But with the help of this annual we will always remember our beginning. It has been my pleasure to serve as your president this year. I wish each of you much success in the future. 7 Dear Seniors, It is a good thing to be rich, and a good thing to be strong, but it is a better thing to be loved by many friends. When a smile or cheerful greeting means so much to those we know, seems we ought to keep repeating smiles and praises more and more. I shall remember you with smiles and praises. Best wishes. 19 Valedictorian Nanette Endicott Nanette is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Endicott and has attended Chouteau-Mazie since the first grade. Last summer she attended Oklahoma Baptist University as an academy student. Following graduation she plans to attend college, majoring in English, and a career in secondary education. Salutatorian Russell Waggoner Russell, the son of Reverend Orville Waggoner and Gloria Waggoner, has attended Chouteau-Mazie ten years. He attended Vocational Technical School this year studying electricity. His plans include attending college then establishing his own business. Our church wants to say congratulations to each of you upon your achievement in education. We are really praying that the Lord will richly bless your life in the years to come. You are going out into a world that is changing and has it's many problems. You can expect to experience fears and anxieties, and loneliness, even in the midst of the crowd. Make up your mind now to know where you are going in this world, what you are going to do when you get there, and why you are going to do it. Take the Lord with you into your vocation and into your marriage. Make sure that this world is going to be a better place to live because of you. Make your life count by being a blessing to others and an inspiration to others. We have high hopes and high expectations for you. We believe that you are going to make better contributions and achieve greater things than we have done in our generation. Phillippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Make this your motto and Christ will help you to achieve the things in life that will be a blessing to others and best for you. May God bless each one of you as you serve Him. Yours in Christ. John W. Curtis.
