SENIOR CLASS CHOUTEAU HIGH SCHOOL CHOUTEAU, OKLAHOMA DEDICATION It takes more than talented players, a good script, and an experienced director to produce a Broadway play. It also requires a skilled crew back stage to keep the equipment in order and the lighting and sound functioning. Just so, a school must have more than a group of students, educated teachers, and well-written textbooks in order to operate. A school, too, needs a behind-the-scenes worker to keep the plant running smoothly. Our stageman is Monroe Mon” Threadford Cameron. For eleven years he has been on the job at Chouteau Schools, faithfully performing the duties of a custodian. He’s the first one here in the morning to see that the heat is on when the students arrive. The last one to leave school in the evening after the day’s mess has been cleaned up is Mon. Summer brings no vacation—grass must be cut, rooms have to be painted, and floors waxed for the fall flock of “eager scholars.” Not only is Mon a hard, diligent worker, but he is also friendly, easy-going, and willing to help. You need never fear to ask him for a favor, for his response is always cheerful. So, in deep appreciation for all he’s done to help dear CHS, we ’65 Seniors are proud to dedicate our Wildcat” to—Monroe Cameron! Cherry, Supt., Lloyd O’Neal, Pres., Albert Penner, Clerk Members: David Burwell, W. E. Battenfield, Alva Grossman Dear Seniors: Congratulations to you for having reached the top of the first peak in your climb up the “Mountain of Life.” Prom this vantage point, you can look back on the climb you have finished and reminisce for a short time. This will give you a chance to “catch your breath” for the next high peak ahead. It hasn’t been too long since you were freshmen, at the foot of the peak, with four long years ahead of you. Now you are seniors, with four short years behind you. At times, the going has been rough. The assignments were long, the teachers were “heartless, and the competition for honors was keen. On second thought, however it has been fun. There were activities and friends to enjoy along the way. These memories, both good and bad, will go with you through life. Let’s hope that you have profited by both your successes and your errors. The peak ahead looks even higher and steeper. We hope that the lesson you have learned here will be a help and inspiration to you. As you climb the next peak in your journey to the top, take time occasionally to turn and look back on Chouteau High School and the friends you have passed along the way.
