If so. you know Mrs. Elizabeth Martin who has been teaching at Choctawhatchee since 1954. Graduated from Livingston State Teacher’s College with a B.S. Degree in 1949, and obtained her Master’s Degree at the University of Alabama this past year. To this woman of prolific achievement We gratefully dedicate the 196-1 Tomahawk. Mrs. Elizabeth Martin? H 1 g h s c h o 0 1 Shalimar Florida Homecoming 1963 Homecoming Royalty—Misses Carolyn Gabbard, Janie McMullen, Linda Saunders, and Liz Girard. Darling little Cindy Wehking, daughter of Coach and Mrs. Bob Wehking, presents the homecoming bouquet to our queen. 10 After the Homecoming game, three proud Choctawhatchee victors leave the field—Allen Cox, Janie McMullen, and Dennis Brozak. Homecoming Attendants Miss Carolyn Gabbard, Senior Attendant, is an equally active and charming person. The wonderful spirit of Choctawhatchee is well rep- resented in Carolyn’s personality. An honor which can almost totally describe our Senior Homecoming Attendant is her election in the Who’s Who—Best-All-Aiy und. The Junior Attendant, Miss Linda Saun- ders, is a very active junior. She is a cheer- leader and is a great promoter of school spirit. Linda once said—I think that a friendly smile and a good outlook on life is wonderful. Linda certainly must live by this very truthful com- ment. Miss Elizabeth Girard, better known as Liz, is the Sophomore Attendant. She is the president of the Sophomore Tri-Hi-Y and is showing definite qualities of leadership. Liz represents the sophomore girl at her best. 12 Faculty MR. BRUNER Principal Message As we near the end of another school year, you the students may look back on it with fond memories. This year ’63-’64 has been one of the most outstanding years in the history of Choctaw. In sports, and other school activities you have truly excelled. To the Seniors I say, “Congratulations!” You have helped set an example this year for the Juniors and Sophomores worth striving for! Seniors, this coming year will be one of the hardest in your lives. You will no longer have the routine way of high school—no, you will have much higher re- sponsibilities. Remember, you have the potential. Juniors and Sophomores, stand fast and study hard. Next year we will again work and strive together toward a mutual goal—your greater edu- cation. You, the students, make this 1964 annual alive and thriving. Enjoy and keep it always. 14 MR. HOWARD Assistant Principal MR. SYFRETT Assistant Principal Office BOAGEY, WAVE A. Secretary MR. Adding to the hilarity were the “friends of the fam- ily and the family of Morlock. To “cap” the com- edy, Mildred, a “Hazel-type” maid calmly saun- tered in and out throughout the play. For a job well done, we can only say, we must say—Congratu- lations to the Junior Class!! Oh, well, what did you expect in the middle of the night?! Allen Cox sweeps end on one of his many gains as Bob Fianan sets himself to block. 191 Bob Finan snatches pass as Indians start a drive to TD. On the worst possible day of the year to play a football game, the Indians traveled to Tallahassee to battle with the Lions. The Lion attack proved too much for the Big Green, who couldn’t get its offense going after an early touchdown in the first quarter by Allen Cox. With this TD the Big Green faltered and couldn’t get going again. Though the game didn’t hurt our conference record, the Indians came out on the short end of a 28-6 score. Coach Wehking heads to a conference with his Warriors, in a crucial moment during the muddy Knoxville game.
