Text from Pages 1 - 232 of the 1960 volume:

Education is the process of developing in the in- dividual the knowledge, interest, ideals, habits, at- titudes and powers whereby he will find his place in society for the best interest of himself, his country and his fellowmen. Our country has the capacity and resources for world leadership. To succeed in this responsibility, our nation should remain strong in the following things: 1. Technical skill and productive capacity 2. Economic stability for all citizens 3. Common loyalty to democracy 4. Freedom of thought and expression 5. An understanding of the peoples of the world 6. Religious beliefs and moral standards 7. Health, energy, integrity and will to work If Choctawhatchee High School is to be strong in these characteristics, all students in our school should be educated to the full extent of their capacities. With these thoughts in mind, the administration and the faculty in Choctawhatchee High School is striving to educate its youth. 3 ■ Dedicatum MR. BRYAN LINDSAY With sincere admiration and respect, we, the Tomahawk staff, proudly dedicate the I960 Tomahawk to Mr. Bryan Lindsey. In this dedica- tion may we express the gratitude felt by the whole student body for his loyal support and helpful friendliness and acknowledge the out- standing qualities of his service as educator and music instructor. S. Air Force as The Band From the Home of the Sonic Boom.” The Style Marchers are proud of the honor and proud of their new uniforms along with the fact that the Craddock Uniform Company has featured the band and the uniforms in its national advertising. The band is making plans for next fall to appear on national TV as half-time enter- tainment at a Washington Redskin football game. In recent years the band traveled throughout the Southern States and won top awards in Enid, Oklahoma, in 1957 at the Tri-State Festival. The band is proud of its record in District and State Festivals and is always ready to aid in civic functions when possible. 138 Although the band performs before many more people as a marching unit than as a concert band, the concert band is the principal unit and dominates the rehearsal time of the band. The marching is distinctive with their flowing headdresses, fast stepping, and dynamic music; while the concert band performs with the articulation and reservation demanded of a fine symphonic organization. 139 gW O icena CLAIRE CAIN — Treasurer.
