5 5 D a a r a a o 3 Chittenango, New York DEDICATION This year's graduating class, the class of 1980, wished to dedicate their yearbook to Mr Frank DiChristina. Anyone passing through the halls of C C S. has undoubtedly come in contact with Mr. DiChristina. Mr Di undertakes many, large jobs in our school and community. He teaches physical education, directs our athletic program, serves as Tri- Valley League Secretary-Trea- surer, and coaches the “Bears'' Varsity baseball team. In his absence last year we realized just how important he really is, not only to us, but the community as well. It is hardly •easy to express the thanks we'd like to give this man. Coach Di is a special person and his 24 years of service to our school, show how well he deserves this honor. 2 APPRECIATION MRS PINEGAR This year we would like to thank Mrs Pinegar for her dedication to the students of C C S. Her excellent work with the Junior Honor Society and ninth grade English classes shows her unique enthusiasm Mrs. Pinegar, we thank you MISS HODEL This year, the PALLADIUM staff would like to extend their appreciation to Chittenango's own lady of frogs. Miss Hodel Her work as sophomore class advisor brings us such favorites as the world renowned Casino Night and arrangements for school rings We ll never forget her amazing ability to tolerate scores of demanding students shouting, When's the ring man coming?!! For all this and more, we thank you. Miss Hodel. MRS FALISE Students who have had Mrs. Falise for Math, know she is friendly and has patience. She is also involved in activities out- side our school which take up plenty of her time Yet. this year in our despair. Mrs. Falise took over as Varsity and JV Cheerleading advisor and is making a strong effort to see that the Bears get the support they deserve We know she deserves our thanks. FOREWORD Each year a yearbook is a col- lection of memories, but still the staff attempts to gather those good and bad times in an espe- cially fitting way. The theme of the 1980 PALLA- DIUM is ‘■scrapbook.” It is designed so that you may each remember your own memories in a very personal way. — Ed It is life near the bone where it is sweetest — Thoreau Ah. isn't this the life? Secrets of a smiling face ADMINISTRATION AND To the Class of 1980: I have enjoyed my association with you over the past five years. These have been years in which we have tried to improve our aca- demic offerings and to provide a better education for each of you. You are the first class to graduate under these more difficult requirements. You should be proud. This is only the beginning of what can be a rewarding and gratifying life for each of you. Your future success should not be measured in dollars earned or titles gained, but in your real value as a person. I wish each of you the very best and hope that your future years are rewarding. C '(ct rfc6cO C Harold W. Talbot, Jr. High School Principal To the Class of 1980: It has been my pleasure for the past few years to watch your class grow in spirit, dedication and special abilities. As the first graduating class of the next decade, use those characteristics to further yourselves in whatever lies ahead after graduation. Your time spent here has been rewarding not only for you but for me. May what you have learned and experienced here at Chittenango help you to be the person that you truly want to be. David M. Wheeler Asst. Principal 6 BOARD OF EDUCATION To the Class of 1980: Congratulations — as a graduating Senior, you should feel a sense of pride regarding your accomplishments both as a class and as an individual. As you prepare now to go on to other endeavors, I hope you will stop and reflect for a moment as to what your education has meant to you. Your diploma is a key” — it can open many doors in terms of future education and occupations. But it can also help to make you a better per- son and a better citizen. That is important not only to you, but to your family and country. Education should more than open doors — it should open minds. Thomas Jefferson described democracy as A marketplace of ideas.” That marketplace will be quite barren if those ideas are of an inferior nature. Best of luck in the future, and be sure to take full advantage of your education in such a way that it will benefit not only yourself but others. Bruce R Sharpe Warren E. You may have left our lives, it’s true, But you haven’t really died; There is a part of you in all of us, A strength that's deep inside. Your death’s a shock to those who must regroup and continue; But the memory of your crazy laugh, Helps us to pull through. You’ve moved on to a better life, One of eternal rest; There’s nothing more that we can do. This time we lost the best. So life goes on and time goes by, Who can tell us why? But we will always remember you, So long, Chip, good-bye. 60 a. She’s never here when I need her . b. You have dandruff c.
