Text from Pages 1 - 184 of the 1978 volume:

MR. JAMES CALLAGHAN; This year the Class of ’78 is dedicating the Palladium to a very talented man who has given so much of himself to our school. Not only is Mr. Callaghan head of the music department, he also directs the Junior chorus, the Senior chorus, the Jentones and Jentrys, and the Spring Musical. We want to thank you for really caring and never losing your faith in us. Keep up your enthusiasm and may you continue to work here at C.C.S. for many years to come. 2 c ffifixsaLation MISS NANCY JENNINGS; What else can we say except that without Miss Jennings as an 8th grade English teacher, what would our vocabulary be like now? She also saved the day by becoming the “Palladium” advisor this year. Our class will never forget her favor- ite word — “obnoxious.” We want to thank her for always being there and let her know she is appreciated. MR. MITCH ERION; The Class of ’78 wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to a man who has been more than a teacher to us, he has regarded us more as his friends than as his stu- dents. His concern has gone outside the class- room. and he will always remain a part of our lives. 3 To the Class of 1978; The song Memories has a special meaning for each of you at this time. Memories of the past few years will become more and more valuable as time passes. I hope that you have developed the necessary traits to enable you to be suc- cessful in the future. Success is only real if it is truly earned and not accom- plished at the expense of others. I have enjoyed my association with each of you and certainly hope that you will visit us as time permits, so that you can maintain contact with your high school. Your friend. Harold W. Talbot, Jr. High School Principal To the Class of ’78; I feel fortunate that I was able to get to know many members of the Class of ’78. You impress me as a group of friendly, happy people who work hard to meet requirements and obligations. Hopefully, you have a sense of satisfac- tion in your accomplishments. By setting sensible goals and then by earnestly working to achieve them, one can have a rewarding life that is both exciting and fun. My advice to you is to work hard but don’t forget to enjoy yourself. If there is something you want to do. whether it be travel, or further schooling, or particular employment, don't permit uncertainty to prevent you. Satisfaction in life depends on your ability to experience your interests and meet the goals you set for yourself. Good luck to each of you and always remain cheerful and friendly. I wish each of you success in the future. Your lives are off to a good start. CL 7 Mr. Charles Molloy 4 cdfdm Ln LxbiatLon and HBoazd of Education a. Warren E. Jerome. Superintendent of Schools b. Top Row: Mr. Peter C. Stucker. Mr. James G. Traub. Mr. Richard DeVaul. Mr. William Winans. Brian Barnes. Bottom Row: Mrs. Barbara Melchisky. Mr. Michael P. Schmidt. Mr. Lyle Stedman, Mr. Clyde Marcellus. To the Seniors of 1978: It is a pleasure to have this opportunity to express my heartiest congratulations and good wishes to your class. Your class seems to possess its share of the qualities we like to see in the young men and women of our school and community. Your loyalty, enthusiasm, and good citizen- ship as shown in school affairs have served as an inspira- tion for underclassmen to do as well or better in the years to come. May I remind you that commencement does not mean the end of your education, but rather the beginning of a new stage in the adventure of life where learning can con- tinue indefinitely if you desire it so. As you leave the halls of Chittenango High School to enter into new endeavors, I wish you all possible success in reaching the goals you set for yourselves. TTldfoJit Mr. Michael Sturgeon 5 ozearoxcl Everyone is an important part of this world. The Senior Class strongly believes that this statement is true and that each stu- dent contained in this school is important. We are constantly seeing the people “in the limelight” but what about the people “behind the scenes”? They do just as impor- tant a job as the others. That’s why this year’s Palladium is using the theme, “Every- one is a star.” We’d like to show that every- one does count, not just as a number or a name on a paper, but as a living, breathing, human being. a. Imagine yourself, A Junior, the person of your dreams by your side, everyone dressed in formals and tuxes, all the lights are down low, a huge, revolving ball on the ceiling, the music good and mod- ern. puffy white clouds floating around the walls and a large wizard over- seeing all the fun and excitement, every care in the world forgotten, could it be a dream? No, it was the class of '78's Junior Prom. The theme of “Could It be Magic?” was more than appropriate, because for everyone who attended, it was magic. It was one of the best efforts put forth by this year’s Senior Class and will be fondly remem- bered by all who fell under the spell. Dawn Cole 14 16 Ruth — Likes: Cheering, my friends, snow.
