CONTENTS Seniors------- Faculty------- Activities---- Sports-------- Organizations - Underclassmen Advertisements DEDICATION MR. KIRSCHENHEITER Mr. Kirsch has to be the most vibrant teacher around! As varsity coach he brings a shockwave of vitality into C.C.S. football and track. He is intense and animated as a Biology teacher, and equally so as a friend. The '75 PAL- LADIUM Staff can't thank him enough for bringing so much vigor and so many laughs into our years at C.C.S. Mr. Couse: We've set aside this comer of our yearbook to thank Mr. Co use for the umpteen mil- lion things he’s done to help our class out! Besides being an Eng- lish teacher and single handedly establishing an Ice Hockey Club at C.C.S., he was the Jr. Class advisor for the class of '75 and helped us put on a super Junior Prom in '74! Mr. Daviau: Mr. Nick Danger Daviau has done such a terrific job of initiating a soccer team for Chittenango the PALLADIUM staff couldn't pass up this chance to extend him a special Thanks! He's been a real friend to many seniors, as well as a super coach to the guys on the team! Mr. Hutko: Every student who's had Mr. Hutko knows how great it feels to have a teacher who is totally immersed in his job and genuinely interested in each of his students. The seniors on the staff wish to take this chance to let Mr. Hutko know how much we appreciate this dedication and have enjoyed knowing him. i Miss Rhinehart: The '75 PALLA- DIUM Staff wants to thank Miss Rhinehart for helping so many girls realize the thrill of success in sports as well as the impor- tance of building strong, healthy bodies as a foundation for aca- demic and spiritual success. To the Class of ’75, It has been a real pleasure for me to be involved with Chittenango High School during this special centennial year. Any senior year is special, but this one will be remembered more than most. I hope that each of you has grown within yourself during your years at Chittenango High. Today’s world requires each of us to be able to cope with each other. Toler- ance is certainly a virtue and indeed a necessity in our lives today. As you move on in life, may your future be bright and your accomplishments of benefit to yourselves as well as to others. Congratulations and best wishes. Sincerely yours, Harold Talbot, Jr. High School Principal 6 r Parker ’ Prender By TOM HOLT Replacing Mr. Seamans as assistant principal this year is Mr. Donald Parker, whose responsibility will be working with eighth, ninth and tenth graders. He reported to us that later, when things get more settled around in school he will be involved with the various clubs about school and will work with the new science and math teachers. Mr. Parker is a '68 graduate of the State University at Cortland, where he majored in biology and played tennis. He received his doctorate in Science Education and Educational Administration from Syracuse University. Mr. Parker taught biology for four years in the East Syracuse-Minoa school district and also did administrative work there and in other school districts. Last year, at the National Educational Convention in Chicago, he gave talks on Student attitudes toward education. She is Simone Murad from Brazil. Simone has been staying with the Grimmer family because of Penny Grimmer's A.F.S. trip to Brazil in the summer of '73. Penny stayed with the Murads during her trip. Through this the Murads and Grim- mers have become good friends. As a result, members of each family have been visiting each other ever since. We hope Simone has enjoyed her stay here and that Chittenango lived up to everything she had heard it to be. 54 We don’t want to forget. . . Love like the autumn sun should be dying but it’s only just begun. Dreams, so they say, are for the fools and they let them drift away. Peace like the silent dove should be flying, but it’s only just begun. Like the twilight in the road up ahead They don't see just where they’re going. And all the secrets of the universe Whisper in our ears and all the years Come and go and take us up. Always up! We may never pass this way again. Like Columbus in the olden days We must gather all our courage. Sail our ships out on the open sea Cast away the fears and all the years Will come and go and take us up Always up! We may never pass this way again cause - I want to laugh while the laughing is easy. I want to cry if it makes it worthwhile. I may never pass this way again - That’s why I want it with you baby You make me feel like I’m the journey and you’re the journey's end - We may never pass this way again. - Seals and Crofts left: King - Mark Clark Queen - Karen Tulowiecki 77 Student Council 78 STUDENT COUNCIL: 1st ROW: A. This edifice has always served as a center for spiritual enrichment. 110 The stately architec- ture of the period made Yates High School a pride of the community. Walnut Grove Ceme- tery reflects rever- ence for past local heroes as John Yates. m The bustling business center created a mood of excitement as horses and horseless carriages traveled through town. A refreshing reminder of a great way to cool off on steamy summer afternoons in the early 1900's. 12 Still spanning Chittenango Creek, the Chittenango Foundry is a reminder of a way of life in the early 1800’s. MAIN STRcET, Chittenango Station, N. Y. Founded in 1897, the Chittenango Pottery Plant utilized the water of the Erie Canal to produce fine china and stoneware. 113 114 Steve Elmore and Jay Fogus won Gold Key Awards for their entries in the Scholastic Art Awards Competition sponsored by Mutual of New York. Students from nine counties were in the competition. Honorable Mentions were awarded to Deb Balitz, Mike Elmore and Tim Thompson. The AFS (American Field Service) Senior High Club sponsors a student from another country to attend school in Chittenango for a year. This year our AFS student is Raphael DiGuesseppe from Argentina. He is staying with Mr. and Mrs. Steve Melchiskey. AFS also awards scholarships for Americans Abroad, or students from our school to live abroad. Susan Moon was our recent Ameri- cans Abroad student traveling to Australia for the summer of 1974. A play day in the fall and a Friendship Band Drive, provided money for the group’s work. The advisors for the Senior High Club are Mrs. Beth Falise and Mr. Robert Gagne. Junior High AFS Club advisors are Mrs. Janet Forney and Mr. Stuart Byrnes. The Americans Abroad Chairman is Mr. Harold Sorenson. In addition to AFS students, CCS has been fortunate to host other foreign students this year. Luiz Jordao is this year’s Rotary Interna- tional student. Simone Murad (pictured left) is a guest of the Wil- liam Grimmer family while attending C.C.S. this year. 25 VARSITY CLUB: FIRST ROW: H. Although he spoke only Portug- ese when he arrived, Luiz quickly adopted a Yankee-Brazilian accent and communi- cated easily with everyone at Chittenango. Living with various families in the community, his enthusiasm for C.C.S. was plain when he became the only non-American citizen on the Varsity Volleyball team. In addition, Luiz will be remembered for showing students the Brazilian version of the samba. f 40 Jr. High Segment Remains 8-1 PIRST ROW: K. Beirne, M. Boccaccio, D. Bassett, M. Bickford. From the 1 975 Palladium Staff CONNIE JO STERNBERG As you lie there so peacefully, and we gaze into your most beautiful face, We think of how wonderful you always were, and we know that no one can ever take your place. You had so much to live for, that grew with every passing day; You had so many relatives and friends that loved you in a very special way. You loved us and our Misty, and most of all to be you and to live; You were the devilish one, the affectionate one, the do-er, the go-er, the one who seldom took but would always give. We will always miss you from morning to night and from darkness to light; We know that God must have a place and need for you greater than ours - but at this time - I can not feel the time and place were right. We miss you, our daughter, our sister, our aunt, our granddaughter, our niece, our cousin, my Godchild, our faithful, and to all, - our friend; We will always pray to God for your soul, and to ask why this So Special Life now had to end. 183 Congratulations to the one-hundredth graduating class, 1975 Best Wishes to the Class of 1975 Compliments of Best of Luck Seniors, Compliments of M iss Hodel's Homeroom Homeroom Ten-four We hope that your future is GEORGE'S SERVICE Happiness is Class of 75 M.
