Mr. Robert J. Hughes To the Class of 1968: Each year it is a distinct honor and pleasure to congratulate the graduating class upon their accomplishments. You have earned the rights and privileges which accom- pany the high school diploma. You owe it to yourself, your parents, and your com- munity to put these achievements to good use. This diploma qualifies you to aim at higher goals in life. The choice is yours. The way is clear for you to further your edu- cation or occupational objectives according to your own aspirations. Again, may I congratulate you upon graduation and wish you every success in the future. Sincerely, Robert J. Hughes Supervising Principal

Mrs. Nella G. Pasto Dedication We, the Class of 1968, dedicate this Palladium and all the hard work which has gone into it to Mrs. Nella G. Pasto. Through her teaching of American History, World History, Sociology, Adult Education, Economics, and Citizenship Education she has put forth and given meaning to the qualities of: sensitivity to others, self-discipline, and responsibility. Above all, she has exemplified the meaning to the philosophy: giving of one's self is a reward far better than receiving. 5

Mr. Warren E. Jerome Mr. Charles F. Seamans To the Class of 1968: In the fall of 1962 you became the first class to enter the new junior high addition of our present building. I remem- ber that early December day when each of you carried desks, chairs, books, and supplies from the 35 year old Lake Street School to a new building that still needed the finishing touches. This change was accomplished in less than two hours because of your cooperation. Already young people living in an age of change you would see many more such changes that would touch your lives in the years ahead. In a few months you would see America's first man in space. Then shortly after your newest sym- bol of courage would be shot on the streets of a southwestern city. Gradually across America the second chapter of a movement that began in the time of your great-great-great grandfather would be opened to assure the rights of all men. Now finally you will be the fourth high school graduating class in your generation who will be expected to fight a war in a land that occupied very little space in your social studies books. Your preparation for such changing times has come from many sources. We hope that the opportunities to study a comprehensive and liberal curriculum that has changed almost completely since your first days in junior high will help give you a stronger background in the years ahead. Furthermore, the associations you have made, the books you have read, and the thought process in which you have engaged will better equip your minds regardless of down which road you choose to travel. For these changing times are not only a drain on our energies, but a challenge and hope for all who desire an improvement to all our social, economic, and political institutions. The Class of 1968 will always remain a pleasant memory. For it is the first class that has passed completely through the full six years while Mr. Seamans and I have been building administrators. Best wishes to your families and congrat- ulations to each of you. Let us see you again whether it be for a visit or a call for future assistance. With personal congratulations Sincerely, Charles F. Seamans Warren E. Jerome Assistant ]r.-Sr. High School Principal High School Principal 7
