Class Poeta At last graduation has arrived, To please those who have survived Those long and weary, dreary hours, Which help us reach our longed-for powers. All about us is joy and delight, For this is indeed a happy night Because after Twelve long years, We've gained our goal, it appears. Many times past, when we’ve hated our toil, Our friends, the instructors, remained loyal. Soon we will be going out on our own. Whether it be in a crowd or all alone: Most will succeed, and few will fall By the wayside or near the wall. Because we have the drive and determination To help us reach our wanted destination. And so, dear friends, (we have no foes) As our high schooling comes to a close. We, the graduating class of fifty, Which is really quite neat and nifty, Wont to wish you all “ Forewell And say “Thanks” for being swell. Patricia Whipple

When we returned to school in September of '47, our class was enlarged to 35 by the addition of William Devine, Albert Devine, and Alan Francis. We elected George Finck, president; Richard DeVries, vice president; Janet Batten, secretary; and Janice May, treasurer. Under the direction of a new teacher, Miss Coyle, class spirit was instilled into our ranks. The social event of the year was the Sophomore Soiree with Ernie Carpenter's Orchestra. A good time was had by all. One of our members, Lyle Stedman, was elected to the Student Council. Mony of the boys par- ticipated in sports and were ably cheered on by Liz Beemen, our Sophomore cheerleader. Bill Dev ine was elected ring chairman and we selected our class rings. In September of 48, we returned to school as upper classmen under the guidance of Miss Ben- son. In October, we received our class rings and also had a dance with music furnished by Charlie Gregg's Orchestra. Liz Beeman, Al Devine, and Janet Batten represented us on the Student Coun- cil. Wanda Zinn and Shirley Hoxsie joined us during the year, while we lost Fred Caswell, Mary- ella Hubbs, Eunice Bender, and Joan Watkins. We collected papers and sold pencils to raise funds for our Junior Prom. In preparation for the great event, we chose Liz Beeman Prom Choirman and Lyle Stedman Co-Chairman. It was pre- sented in May with Bill Martin's Orchestra furnishing the music. We chose “Mardi-Gras os our theme. A wonderful time was had by all. Our class was again well represented in activities and Janet Batten joined Liz Beeman in helping to cheer on the boys. We selected Franklin Case to represent us at boys’ state and Janice May to represent us at girls’ state. In September 1949, 26 lofty Seniors entered school for the last time. We elected Lyle Stedman, president; George Finck, vice president; Margaret Naymik, secretary; and Janice May, treasurer. Bill Devine, Liz Beeman, Janet Batten, Lyle Stedman, and Janice May represented us on the Student Council. In accordance with a new tradition, we held our Senior Ball on November 19, 1949 with Fred Vare’s Orchestra. Liz Beeman was Senior Ball Chairman and Janet Batten was Co-Chairman. Bill Devine was elected editor of our school newspaper, “Whispers .
