Varsity Comes Gut on Top The 1979 wrestling season was an exceptional one and the varsity team had a great many outstanding wrestlers. Glen DeGrendel and Stan LaPerriere both went on to regionals. Stan LaPerriere and Rocky Kohler competed for the most pins of the season and Glen DeGrendel went undefeated most of the season. Other outstanding wrestlers were Tony Lamberti and Darryl Mangianti. All through the 1979 wrestling season the entire team was outstanding. The team has, and will have, many promising young wrestlers offering many excellent wrestling seasons to come. 1. john Werthmann prepares himself for his next match. 2. Attack!! 3. Chippewas All-Americans ig. . iihgr .g.,,i,,,... The All-American Volleyball team got more than it bargained for when Maureen Raska became one of the chosen few. Aside from her obvious abilities as a volleyball player, Maureen also excelled in other sports. She demonstrated her athletic talent in Track and Basketball. Maureen presently holds the school records in high jump and long jump and was a member of the record holding 880 yd. relay team. She was Valedictorian of the class of '78 and a member of the National Honor Society. She also participated in band for four years on an individual basis and with the group. Diana Lynn iDee-Deei Bott also made the honor of the All-American team. Dee-Dee is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding athletes ever to attend Chippewa Valley. She was a strong asset to team athletics, as she was a member of the Basketball team in the fall, Volleyball in the winter, and Softball in the spring. In four years at Chippewa, Dee-Dee earned 12 Varsity letters. She was one of the most exceptional pitchers the Softball team had ever seen, and was equally impressive on the basketball court. Dee-Dee was also a member of the National Honor Society.
