Young Team Gains Experience The freshman baseball team combined good talent and positive attitude to produce one of the most successful freshman teams in many years. The team attended the Cincinatti-Detroit Tiger's exhibition game, the High School Athletic Association Clinic at Tiger Stadium, and finished the season with the best record of a freshman team in the Oakland A league lboth in winning percentage and total victoriesl. The success we experienced was due entirely to a complete, unselfish team effort. It would be contrary to the team concept we stressed to single out particular performers. All were valuable and necessary. Nevertheless, a good foundation has been established, for future Big Red teams. We are proud of our freshman baseball players. '.,,4nul7' 4 A 3

Talented Varsity Shows Spirit The Varsity Baseball team was one of the most talented teams in the league last spring. Many games were lost by one and two runs. The Big Reds finished with a league record of four wins and eight losses. They played only 12 games due to many rain-outs. Outstanding players were Dave Thoel, a first team All-League selection, Ron Thoel, Rich Staels, and Deryl Beasley who received Honorable Mention. The Varsity Big Reds are very capable of being one of the big teams in the Oakland A League. Coach Terry Huffman will be back to coach them after a year break.
