There are plenty of things to do there, reading for enjoyment or catching up on the latest in sports, community news or just plain relaxing. No matter what the reason our librarians, Mrs. McCollum and Mrs. Stange keep the materials up to date, which is not an easy iob at Chippewa considering we have over 14,000 books for our use. The audio visual department headed by Mrs. Fleck, is also as important, providing movies and filmstrips that teach us while we watch. After all the years at Chippewa and all the use, the books need a little plastic surgery and get it in the book treatment department is run by Mrs. Van Dyke so they have a little longer life. ove 0ver Shakespeare This year the English Department has added two new courses to its list of many fine class choices. These new courses, Lit I and Lit ll, will enable the student to fulfill his literature credit needed to graduate. These classes, taught by Ms. Roarty, Ms. O'Neill, Ms. Balch, and Ms. Barry, will give the students the basic understanding of literature and exposure to all forms: novel, short story, poetry, and biography. One new faculty member has been added to the English Department's staff. Mr. Gregory Bator, the Debater , teaches debate class and prepares his students for annual competition. Along with the other changes, new teaching equipment is being used in the English Department this year. The new tachistoscope machine, used in the 9th grade reading class, is designed to increase the student's reading skills. lt especially aids in increasing the student's comprehension skills and reading speed.
