Once you know yourself, you will be better equipped to make the decisions, to face the challenges, and to tolerate the stresses that the future will bring. However, to know the total you isa very difficult and extensive job. The total you includes your emotions, goals, feelings, problems, needs, desires, and values - all the things that make you a unique person. Knowing yourself will give you self-confidence and assurance. Once you know yourself, you will be able to understand others and life in general better. Exploring your emotions and goals will lead you to determine what you really want out of life. Then you will be able to put things in their proper perspective. What you learn from the experience of school depends upon how much you apply yourself. How quickly you learn about yourself and your needs and goals depends on you and the experiences that lead to personal growth that you encounter.

That may seem easier than it really is for learning to use the tools takes plenty of time and effort. The tools can be whatever you find works best for you whether it be individual help from a teacher, experimentation, vocational techniques, or simply learning from other students. The media from which you choose to learn can be one of these or a combination. Whatever the tools may be, chances are they can be found in school. The question is: Will they be discovered.
