CHEERLEADER Cheerleading is not just performing under Friday night lights. It takes hours of practice until you're ready to get out in front of a roaring crowd and give it all you've got. lt all begins with the nervousness of tryouts, and everyone does her best to attain one of the available spots. For the girls that make it, itis only the beginning. With the arrival of summer comes clinic. This year the Frosh chose O.C.C. at Findley. The Varsity picked Firebird Camp at Ashland College, and were honored as one of the top six squads present. The Reserve decided not to attend a clinic, but to rent a Cabin and work on their own. They also participated in money-making projects including a clinic for live to fourteen year olds. In September, football season seems like it will never arrive, but in the end, everyone was glad to get out ofthe chilly weather and into the gym. VARSITY CHEERLEADERS: Carole Miller, Sue Zellefrow, Carol Boyan, Tami Stanley, Kim Price, Missy Sungy It's the kick-off, and in order to see it Carol Boyan mounts the shoulders ol' Carole Miller and joins in the chanting. Even before the crowds arrive Chipp cheerleaders are convinced that their team will come out on top in the first tournament game against Louden- ville.

CHS GONG SHOW On April 20th, Chippewa High Student Council held its first annual Gong Show. The enthusiasm was great with sixteen acts vying for the first place prize of 325.02 Second place received 513.28 while the third finisher earned 54.98. Jon 'LChuckie Papp, the man of the lab, served as MC. Our celebrity judges were Doris Juicy JP. Murray, Carl Diller', Dulin, and Denise Rex Robbins. Six ofthe acts received the almighty gong and some ofthe re- maining acts just barely survived it. First place was shared by Joe Munday with a superb drum solo and Dianna Troyer and Greg Burns in 'flieelini it which was a love scene in a park all done in robot-like movement. Hemo and the Hemostats captured second place. Ann Dannemiller took home third place after a fine sing- ing performance of Send in the Clowns . Everyone really likes the announcing oflon Chuckie Papp, but then again everyone really likes physics. Seniors Kathy Ludwick and Dianna Troyer munch down on fried embryos and lizard tongues at the Conehead King Resturant.
