SPIKES WITH SPIRIT Thc 1977 season record for varsity girls volleyball was 5-9. Mrs. Dobney served her third year as head coach. The Chipps began very slowly, opening with four losses. As the season progressed the team began to warm up. and their talents blossomed. They produced a comeback victory over Smithville and won five ofthe remaining ten games. The Chipp netters lost to Fairless. a tough team rated second in the drawings, in high school tournament action at Lake Middle School. ON THE GREEN For the eighth year in a row, our swinging Chipps golf team finished first in the Wayne County League. The team consisted of five members including captain Marty Creed. They were led by Coach Dick Miller. Marty made history this past year when he be- came the first Chippewa High School golfer to qualify for state competition.
