paw prints 1967 presented to the students, faculty and affiliated people of chipley high school by the journalism class advisor Mr. Pat Williams editor-in-chief Hilda Harper HL M We must decide . . . now. It is not the first decision, nor the last— but a vital one. We look backward, and see how we have come; We look forward—to what, we do not know— We hope for a promising future, for fulfillment of a dream . . . 2 4 0 But now—today—we decide which road leads us to our goal, our dream. So humbly we walk purposefully onward, confident that we have chosen the right way, For there is much awaiting, and the trail is beckoning. Two roads diverged in a yellow wood. And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim. Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads to to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. The Road Not Taken —Robert Frost 3 knowing how way leads the students of C.H.S. have had their own decisions to make the gatherings .. . on to way . . and have had to consider the better way of life. .. . the tears. 5 the challenge of decision New friends were made. and friendships deepened. Fellow Students, The character of a school is not developed by the county or the state in which it is located, but by the students and faculty who populate its halls and classrooms. As a result of your desire to better yourselves as citizens of this country, this institution has become more than a mere build- ing. It has developed a personality of its own. We, the Student Council, are immensely proud of having a part in this tremendous development. To be good at it requires practice and discipline. After cheerleaders are elected by their classmates, they attend cheerleading school during the summer months. ACA camp was chosen to give this group a head-start for the 1966-67 season. They graduated second at the end of the week. The first taste of victory came in the first game of the season, when Quincy came face to face with a strong Chipley Tiger team. Chipley took an early lead with the score at the half 18-0. The fighting Tiger team pulled through the game with a final score of 24-7. The next victims were the defend- ing State Class B Champions, the Bonifay Blue Devils. The Devils fell to the powerful Tigers with a final score of 26-6. After overpowering Blountstown 38-0, the Tiger's winning streak was marred by a loss to the much stronger Florida High team. 2P KENNY HANSON, Senior Tackle, All Gulf Coast Conference ELLIOTT VARNUM, Senior Halfback, All Gulf Coast Conference EDWARD PRESCOTT, Senior Quarterback, All Gulf Coast Conference 116 After clinching the Gulf Coast Conference championship by defeat- ing Port St. Joe, the Tigers lost their Homecoming game by a heartbreak- ing score of 7-6. The only gratitude we seek from you is that every time you open this book, you will recall the joy, happiness, and sorrow you experienced in the year 1966-'67. This will be more than enough thanks.
