Blondell Sewell, vice president, worked hard serving as chair- man for many committees. Our minutes were kept, and other secretarial jobs were taken care of, by Charlotte Kent. Gladys Thompson, as treasurer, kept an accurate record of our finances. This was a great help to the annual staff. We think we did a fine job in selecting our leaders, for we raised the $2,000 needed for our annual. Darnell Malloy, Lynn Mar- chant, and Wardine Pum- phrey represented us as Senior Student Council Rep- resentatives. “Sty €UtcCd Sherwin Anderson Once in a century Football 1-2; Basketball 1-2-3-4; Baseball 1-2; Student Council 3; C Club 1-2-3-4; Sports Club 1-3-4; Math Club 2; Sports Club President 4; Class Play 3. I, Billy Franklin, would leave my presidency, but since I expect to need it one day as the President of the United States, I take it with me. I, Lynn Marchant, will my long hair to Janet May who doesn't have the nerve to let hers grow. I, Annette Johnson, leave for Berry on the run. I, Sherwin Anderson, leave my striking physique to Theodore Wilson. I, Charlotte Windsor, leave my back seat in college English (a good place for writ- ing notes) to Gracie Haddan. I, Edna Burnett, leave my ability to quarrel with the TIGER SCRATCH co-editor to the next poor sucker. I, Donald Baker, leave my place on the basketball team to Robert Cushing. I, Eugene Cook, leave my quiet ways to Buddy Collins, who certainly needs them. I, Mary Louise Duncan, leave my quiet ways to Frances Stokes. I, John Dean, will my girl-chasing ability to Rufus Watts, who doesn't need it a bit. I, Robert Gay, will my ability to suffer from voluntary inertia (laziness) to Huey Walls. I, Gynelle Holley, leave my dignity to Marilyn Peel. I, Bobby Hood, leave my charming ways of making love to Dow Gilmore. I, Bobby Hunt, leave my Greek nose to Carol Carter. I, Juanita Joyner, leave my sewing ability to Leslie Ann Engram. We, Elkin Kent and Raymond Kent, leave (We hope). I, Orwin Lewis, being unable to find worthy successor, take my qualities with me. I, Ann Malloy, leave my lady-like ways to Geraldine Spence. I, Jimmy Napier, leave my ability to get in and out of trouble to anyone with a dull life. I, Dempsey Odom, leave my blond curls to J. W. Stiller. I, Mertis Rudd, leave my long black hair to Melynda Malloy. I, John Seay, will my dull (???) hair to some would-be-handsome underclassman. I, Frances Syfrett, leave my vocabulary to people hating to carry a dictionary. I, Aron Wachob, will my last pack of cigarettes to Crate Coleman. I, David Walsingham, leave my ability to make A's on all subjects to Betty Clark. I, Larry Williams, leave my typing ability to Edwina Yates. I, Frances McDaniel, leave my ability to giggle to Ellen Edge. “7i He 7VM 7 Unknown to the bright-eyed students of C.H.S., Senior Sponsors Oneida Gilmore, Carrie Reddick, Hilton Lewis, and Leon Rice . . . with the valuable aid and assist- ance of Principal C. V. Williams . . . have been secretly working during the term 1954-55 on a project above all projects, the priceless of the priced, the invention of the decade ... A TIME MACHINE. On a day secret to the populace of this, our beloved school, said persons, O. Gilmore, C. Reddick, H. Lewis, L. Rice, and C. V. Williams mounted the years to 1965 to unfold the destinations of the 1955 grads. Following is the report made (hard-down cold facts): SHERWIN ANDERSON, Mr. Universe of 1965, is being plagued by fans while tour- ing Europe. MYRLENE CREAMER is president of the National Birdwatchers Society. GLEN HARDY, ROBERT GAY, and LARRY WILLIAMS are being rescued from the summit of Mount Everest. These daring young men made it up but couldn't quite make it down. GLADYS THOMPSON (Tadpole) has just finished swimming the English Channel. RAYMOND KENT and ELKIN KENT are in Paris studying music. These talented two are the classical music figures of the day (Raymond plays the piano while Elkin sings). MARY LOUISE DUNCAN married a missionary and is beating drums in darkest Africa. CHARLOTTE KENT is the leader of the W.T.U. (Women's Temperance Union). J. B. DANIELS has a bird dog ranch in Louisiana and raises world famous pointers. FRANCES CLARK is confined in the Florida Ward for the mentally disabled. She finally caught on to a joke and hasn't stopped laughing yet. MACK SOWELL occupies the coveted position (???) of Nuclear Physics Instructor at Auburn. JIMMY NAPIER is a detective tracking down footprints on the sands of time. He thinks he's Tracy. CHARLOTTE ROGERS, still looking for that perfect man, is on her sixth tour of the world. HAZEL NICHOLS, lady of the air, is the star trapeze artist for Barnam and Bailey. WAYNE SHEFFIELD, our mathematician, is counting the grains of sand in the Mo- jave Desert for the F.B.I. BLONDELL SEWELL, the girl most likely to succeed, is really succeeding. She has been married twelve times. RUTH DICKENSON, a champion lady wrestler, is appearing at Madison Square Garden. ROBERT CRAWFORD has replaced Como and Fisher as the most popular teen- age crooner. His latest release is a sequel to Honey Love — Money Love. WAYNE CHANCE of Coggin, Deermont, and Chance has just finished supervising the construction of a bridge across the Atlantic. CHARLOTTE WINDSOR is in Mexico doing the Mambo ( Mambo Baby ). BOBBY HUNT is in India shooting lions with a BB gun. EUGENE COOK, now the John Wayne of Hollywood, is starring in The Low And Weakly with BETTY JEAN WOODHAM carrying the opposite lead. HAROLD NELSON and STEADMAN CARROLL have a candy stand in Moscow. Bus- iness is reported to be dull. FRANCES SYFRETT has just finished what is to be the best seller of the year, Syfrett's Double Handy Dictionary. It only weighs a ton. GERALDINE BYRD is bat girl for the Brooklyn Dodgers. BILLY PAT ATKINS, sole owner and manufacturer of Squeeze, Pop-Cola, and Frostie, the world's most popular soft drinks, is vacationing on the Riviera. This young bachelor is reported to be worth millions. JOHN DEAN has a low, lean, 1965 Chevy that'll pack a dozen people comfortably, and he's still making the rounds. Sure, it's got a horn. DEMPSEY ODOM is star catcher for the New York Yankees. Boy! is he a catch(er)! ANN WILLIAMS MEARS is the proud and loving mother of the United States' only quintuplets. FRANCES McDANIEL, WARDINE PUMPHREY, and ANN MALLOY form a trio that sings blues (The Sob Sisters) and have the whole continent crying its heart out. OLIN MERCER, JOHN SEAY, and DAVID WALSINGHAM, members of the W.G.A.C. (We Go Anywhere Corps) are on an extended trip to the moon. MERTIS RUDD, JUANITA JOINER, and BETTY SUE BERRY are camping out at the North Pole. (Real cool gals.) JOANN LIVINGSTON we find an eccentric old maid of the worst sort, who has decided to pursue alone the path wide enuogh for two. OBETTYE FAYE NELSON, publicly named Blondie, is the big draw on the Arthur Godfrey Show. They say she sings like a bird (Crow). ARON WACHOB is with a group of cyclists touring Venice. WILMER MITCHELL, ORWIN LEWIS and DONNIE BAKER are manufacturing Stretchy- wetchy girdles. Their slogan: I drempt I was a toothpick in my Stretchy-wetchy girdle. EDNA BURNETT has replaced Eve Arden in Our Miss Brooks on radio. BILLY FRANKLIN went uranium prospecting a few years ago and hit the jackpot. He now has a solid uranium piano. Poor Liberace. DARNELL MALLOY is out at Salt Lake City, Utah, vainly trying to learn to swim. ANNETTE JOHNSON, star reporter for the New York Times, is on her new assign- ment Life in Dead Sea. BOBBY HOOD is at present a missionary doctor on the planet Mars. LYNN MARCHANT is Dior's top-notch model. JEAN BRAXTON, commercial artist, is taking it easy in Italy soaking in the sun. (She ran out on and of work.) GYNELLE HOLLEY is a nurse on the battlefields. At this time (1965) that's Jupiter and Pluto. (Good-by, Gynelle.) With such a promising, and we conclude to-be-famous, class, impatiently we count the years till 1965 (0000) when the above will come to pass. 7oCd— On October 12, 1492, Columbus discovered America,- in September, 1943, about 120 youngsters discovered SCHOOL. These discoverers, the '55 Senior Class, were given basic training and passed from grade to grade with only minor tragedies. The first big event in their adventure was moving across the street into the new wing! The seventh year brought junior football and cheer- leading for some of these adventurers. This year marked Chipley High's first Homecoming. Eighth grade, they were really the stuff now. More of them took part in extracurricular activities—band and glee club, football and basketball, and cheerleading. Their freshman and sophomore years saw varsity football and senior cheerleading goals reached. Senior high clubs and activities were in- vestigated and found to be O.K. C.H.S.'s first annual Beauty Review came off this year, two of them were runners-up! These experienced explorers now became juniors. The student coun- cil vice president and state F.H.A. president came from this group. Their play, It's A Great Life, was enjoyed by all, especially the cast. The tops in banquets was held at Chuck and Eddie's. Seniors—this exploration in life called school is nearly over for some and just starting for others, but these worthy adventurers are still leav- ing their mark . . . Homecoming . . . Play (The Skeleton Walks) . . . Movie . . . class leaders . . . activity leaders . . . and their shining ex- amples. All in all we can say that the 1955 Senior Class of Chipley High School will long be remembered. 0%a4U€i%atiQft Sponsor C. C. COLEMAN, JR. Coach Horne is a graduate of Tallassee High School, Tallassee, Alabama. He at- tended State Teachers College at Jackson- ville, Alabama, where he was very active in sports. He coached for one and a half years at Woodland, Alabama, before com- ing to C.H.S. in 1953. Congratulations, Coach Horne, we wish for you the best of luck. COACH KIMBROUGH One of the most liked teachers around C.H.S. is head coach Jim Kimbrough. He graduated from Deshler High School in Tuscumbia, Alabama. He attended Living- ston State Teachers College in Livingston, Alabama, where he spent four active years on the football squad. He was also active in other sports as well. This is his second yean at Chipley High School. He was as- sistant coach last year and was promoted to the rank of head coach this year. Al- though we didn't have an undefeated sea- son, Coach Kimbrough has proven his ability to handle boys. Our hats are off to you, Coach; may you have successful years to come. VS. S.
