HISTORY We obtained our basic training in the three R's. reading, ’riting, and rithmetic under Sister Kate. Miss Louise Pickle and Miss Parker. Our second year we learned about such punishments as ear pulling from Mrs. Warren (could that be the reason Marilyn keeps hers covered?). In our third year we learned about another punishment —sticking your nose in a circle on a blackboard for hours at a time—if you don't believe it. look at Madalyn’s pug nose! Bv the time we reached the fourth grade we had gotten our share of punishment we felt and were ready to settle down. That year we learned enough to be passed to the fifth grade. Miss Carmichael and Mrs. Braxton were put through the third degree then. When we finally arrived in the sixth grade some of us were rewarded by being exempted from final tests—lucky people! Our love for prom parties began during our seventh year when we moved across the street. This year we inherited some new travelers, good-looking, too—such as Bill Holland and W7illiam Higgins! Will you ever forget the day we boarded a school bus for the SRD to have our pictures made for the annual? In the eighth grade we tortured Mrs. Beverett. but she had an advantage over us— the demerit system. Boy! she really racked up when we put chewing gum in Mary Alice Corbin’s hair! Can you ever forget the day Freddy admitted having a “whole notebook full”—of paper, that is? Our freshman year we were practically grown—we thought. This year we journeyed to Boat Pond for our class picnic. Mrs. McGraw spurged us forward and Dee and Bill H. were crowned king and queen. When we became sophomores one of our girls got on the cheerleader squad and our boys went out for the varsity teams. This time, we were grown. Some of us settled down to a steady!” Some are still settled. This year some of our girls decked out in frilly dresses and pantaloons to serve at the “Old South” Junior-Senicrr banquet. Juniors—doesn't that sound big??!! We acquired some more cheerleaders this year and Mack made “Little All State.” What fun we had with our Junior play “Calling All Girls.” While decorating for the Junior-Senior banquet Mr. Kitching was patient w ith us—wasn’t he? I mean the orchestra and other incidences—and that’s shooting no BULL. Now we come to the end of our school years, still just brats as we were in the first grade—at times only understood by Mr. Kitching!
