Lynn and Jackie Honored as Royal Pair Senior Boys Overdid Wood Gathering Homecoming week was one of the busiest for the students at CHS. On Monday, the halls were filled with trikes and lolli-oops, as it was declared “Little Kids Day”! The juniors were victorious in the trike race held that evening. A wide variety of hats filled the air on Tuesday, “Hat Day.” The seniors won the wagon races held that night. “Your Favorite Teacher and Student Day” found students and teachers switching shoes on Wednesday. That night the Superstar Competition was held with the juniors walking away the winners. Thursday and Friday were “Black and Orange” and “Pride Day.” The bonfire on Thursday brought the classes together to cheer the team. Homecoming events climaxed on Friday with the coronation of King Lynn LaTray and Queen Jackie Preeshl. who presided over the parade. Winners for the float competition were: First — 1980, Second — 1983-84, and Third — 1982. The game between the Beeters and the Cut Bank Wolves was a hard fought battle with the Wolves taking the lead in the 24-17 bout which ended in overtime. The Student Council sponsored a dance after the game with Pacey providing the music. Girls' Basketball. . . Kristen Russell and Denise Dawson. Carnival. . . Long Time Tradition at CHS Seemed to Be Losing Steam Carnival this year was lacking in class rivalry, but everyone had a good time participating in the carnival activities. Some of the old favorites included the Mexican Hat Dance, the fish pond, bingo, and the dunking booth. New additions included the freshman Penny Arcade and the sophomore pie raffle, as a result of which some of our more dignified faculty and administrative members at CHS were recipients of the whipped facials. The night show was filled with many pleasant additions. Select members of the Chinook Sugarettes performed an act especially designed for the Carnival. Joel Murdy also performed his humorous solo. The highlight of the night show occured when freshman candidates for queen, Cindy Friede. and king. Rusty Unruh, were crowned 1978 Carnival Queen and King. Other members of the royal party included: seniors — Jody Neibauer and Bob Nicholson: juniors Nancy Inman and Steve Treftz; and sophomores — Claire Pyette and Richard Leo. The 1978-79 school year produced a competitive and successful divisional and state speech and drama team. The ten state qualifiers were: Joel Murdy. Susan Gruss, Kathy Kuhr. Dan Arriola. Kristen Russell. Debbie Maxwell. Pam Treftz, Debbie Luckett. Steffani Swank, and Karon Bryson. Joel Murdy, who captured first place at divisionals with his cutting. “Hot I; Nakedness,” was the only person to place at state, ranking third. The team was very proud to be able to take so many to state, and it was especially commendable that three freshmen, first year drama students, could achieve such an honor. Speech Drama...
