Dave and Becky Reign Bicentennial Theme Dominates the Parade Despite wind and rain, Homecoming festivities went on as usual. The first big event was a bonfire to set spirits blazing on Wednesday. Thursday featured a girls' basketball game, starring the Beeters battling the Great Falls Bison. Festivities came to a peak on Friday. Dave Tilleman and Becky Funk were crowned king and queen at the coronation. Due to gusty winds, many floats looked rather depressing by the end of the parade, though long hours of work went into each of them. Floats placed as follows: 1st - freshmen, 2nd - sophomores, 3rd - juniors. After a mighter effort, the Beeters were defeated by the Malta Mustangs in the Homecoming football game. The final phase of the Homecoming celebration was the Homecoming dance. 32 Varsity Girls' Basketball. . . Hoping for Better Luck Next Year The '75-’76 version of the B-sqaud had a tough season. The Beeters worked hard throughout the year, but just couldn’t seem to get it together for a win. They were a young team with half their number made up of freshmen. The B-squad had fairly good height, but their opponents were able to out-class them in the experience department. In fact, the best thing about this year's season for these fellows was that there will be another chance for them in '76-77. Scou Pike, Bill McMaster, Trent Sizemore, Tom Barton, Steve Gist, Steve Buhman, Jim Jaha, Mike Mord, Todd Chapman, Mark Bosch. C-Squad Basketball. Learing How The 1975-76 C-Squad was composed of many players who were playing organized basketball for the first time. With several of the freshmen on the B-Squad, many of these new players gained valuable experience. The team won only one game, but made much progress through the year. Hard work and dedication marked the efforts of this year's squad, and many of these players will be heard from in the future. 40 Wrestling. . . Wrestling. . . The turnout for the game was really great. Everyone was supposed to bring a can of goods and 100 for students and 250 for adults. The money went to the Pep Club, and the canned goods to the needy. There were tricks, balloons, squirt guns and, believe it or not, boys dressed up like girls playing on the women's team. It turned out to be very close and exciting game! 45 GAA. . . Jodi Behrens as Annie Sullivan and Candy Martens as Hellen Keller gave fantastic performances. They were supported by an excellent cast. Faced with a small membership and a new director, the Hi-liner Band showed its stuff with an exciting Jazz Ensemble and some much improved concerts. Featuring mostly contemporary music, the group livened things up and its members helped the Band to an Excellent rating at District Festival. The Chamber Choir, not to be outdone, had close to seventy enrolled and gained a I at Festival. Four girls, Amy Larson, Cindy Ehlang, Tana Overcast, and Kim Smith, represented them at All-State. Another vocal group, the Chansons, received a II. This year saw several people going to the State Solo and Ensemble Festival in Missoula. Those receiving the necessary Superior ratings at District were Marsha Heilman with a saxophone solo and, in vocal solos, Tana Overcast and Amy Larson. Marilyn Van Campen and Tana Overcast, Cindy Sizemore and Tana, Kim Smith and Cindy Ehlang, and Debbie Luckett and Sue Swenson, all went as duets while the Senior Girls' Ensemble, the Hi-liner Girls, the Mens’ Junior Quartet, the Girls' Trio, the Freshman Ensemble, the Hi-liners, and the Senior Girls' Quartet also qualified. On the piano for 1 ratings were Carla Armstrong and Nita Skones. 62 Spanish Club. . Spent Carnival Money on More Food With to further cultural relations between us and our neighbors as their motto, the '76 Spanish Class drew up a constitution and became the Spanish Club. Tom Arriola, Chris Brummer, Pam Taylor, Marsha Bryan, Miss Doll, Carol Lux, Sahara Swartz, Candy Martens , Tracy Warburton. 63 Carnival. . . New Time — New Attractions This year we had our annual carnival in the spring. Despite the change in time of year, it was traditional cold carnival weather. One of the main attractions this year was the pie eating contest sponsored by the Music Department. The champion pie eater was Donald Schnittgen, who held the record of 25 seconds for three pieces of pie and triumphed later when he was the first to chow down a whole pie in the Variety Show. Queen Jackie Preeshl and King Bill McMaster of the Freshmen Class were crowned at the Variety Show. Cindy Ehlang sang the Theme From Mahogany to the King and Queen. The show was hosted by Senior Class President Dean Ramberg and included skits and raffle drawings. A contribution of approximately a dozen mice was given to the upstairs halls and lockers of CHS compliments of the Freshman Mouse Races. The mice caused much excitement in classrooms and did great damage to many sack lunches. 65 66 Chris and Greg Reign over Spring Formal 67 Girls ’ Track Records Toppled This year's girls’ track team was very small but did very well.
