Three Wins Mark Season The 1974 football season will be well remembered in its total team effort of three wins and five losses for the squad coached by Jim George. The football team played good ball with great shows from both offense and defense. The Beeters won easily over Fort Benton, Browning, and Shelby. The team had trouble breaking through the lines of their other opponents, but gave them a good fight to the end. Over all, the team showed marked improvement over the past season's play. Team captains, which were selected by all members of the squad, were Matt Harshman, Kyle Conroy, and Dan Davies. Those players from Chinook making first team, all-conference, were Dave Tilleman and Dan Davies. Those on the second team, all-conference, were Kyle Conroy and Matt Harshman. Gaylord LaTray received honorable mention in the all-conference balloting. r w Standing: Gary Jacobson, assistant coach; Jim George, head coach; Hugh Ross, Dave Tillman, Donald Schniti-gen, John Ross, Gary Ramberg, Kyle Conroy, Gaylord LaTray, Dan Davies, Pat Molyneaux, Jerry Wisch, Matt Harshman, DarTell Bergland, Ted Schye, and John Moffatt, assistant coaches. Homecoming. . , Featured Fabulous $50 Bonfire The Homecoming festivities started on Thurdsay, Ocotober 10, with the annual bonfire. This year’s bonfire cost $50 to the Senior class because of the strange disappearance of a bus shelter. A sock hop was held in the gym following the bonfire. An assembly was held Friday afternoon. At this assembly Patti Harshman was announced as the Homecoming Queen and Darrell Berglund as the King. Skits and a Kangaroo Court were held. The 3rd Degree played a few selections also. The parade followed. The placing of the floats was Sophomores, 1st; Junior High, 2nd; and Freshmen, 3rd; G.A.A. won the group float. Friday night the Beeters met the Conrad Cowboys in what had to be the most exciting game of the season . Although Chinook held their territory well, they went down in defeat, 27-6. The Thorsen Brothers played for the dance sponsored by the Student Council after the game. The girls' basketball game concluded the weeks' activities with Chinook defeating the Browning Indians 53-46 in a hard fought contest. 13 15 Girls Basketball. . . Bounced Off By Great Falls A t State. The Girl's Basketball team had a fabulous season with a record of 17 wins and 3 losses. They played the Great Falls Bison at Divisional Tournaments with a victory and then met them in a rematch for the state title. The Beeters were herded off the floor when the Bison overtook them. Many games were set up by the various classes and clubs. The F.H.A. provided food for all at the Sugan Shack,” and the F.F. A.'s bingo was a real hit. The variety show this year was one of the best yet. The Hi-Liners sang and king Chuck (Hewitt) accepted adulation from his inferiors. Vonnie Gates gave a humorous solo and the Speech and Drama Club put on a skit. King candidates were picked for the first time this year at C.H.S. The winning king and queen for 1974 were from the Junior Class in Bill Barber and Nellie Jo Schellin. Princesses and Princes were Seniors Betty Doney and Brett Chapman; Sophomores Chris Lybeck and Buzz Steinmetz; and Freshman Kellie Funk and Bill Burkhartsmeyer. Because of the winning attitude of the classes, this years' carnival was the most successful one ever. 20 Carnival. . . These three words pretty much sum up the 1975 track season. In spite of cold weather and cancelled meets, several of the track men turned in creditable performances for a young team paced by some fine junior prospects. 51 The senior class this year, under the direction of Mr. Hewitt, presented a two-act comedy, UP THE DOWN STAIRCASE. The play featured a young school teacher, Sylvia Barrett, portrayed by Joni Barber, about to leach her first class ever. The play presented typical, every day problems of a first-year teacher, the situations she ran into, and how she coped with them.
