Board of Education The five men elected by the community as members of the Board of Education work with the superintendent of schools in developing school policy, selecting the faculty, and disbursing school funds. Their job consumes much time and effort, and is unpaid except by the appreciation of the community. This year they did much in keeping pace with our rapidly growing community. They awarded contracts for classroom ad- ditions at the Gird Primary schoolp installation of a clock and signal systemg the grading and paving, water service, and elec- trical system of the new high schoolg and the new El Rancho school at Calc and C Streets. They have purchased, among other items, two new school buses for next year, a new electrical switchboard for the auditorium, a grandstand for the new high school athletic field Cwhich will seat 30005, and fencing for the new athletic field and the Gird Primary playground. Many other important activities have been conducted by this body which have not been mentioned here. Every member of this board certainly merits our greatest thanks for his untiring effort.
