'Teach him how to fish and he'lI eat for a Iifetime. This old Arabian proverb fits into all cultures. Education is a foundation for life. If people just expect hand-outs on a day to day basis, they only live from day to day with no future to plan for. On the other hand, if a person learns a trade or uses his intelligence to make something of him- self, he can plan for his future and be proud of who he is. Building on learning experience in and out of school and putting these experiences to use, propels a person to be a symbol of pride to his family, his community, his school, and himself. Chinle high school is made up of people who teach--faculty and students alike. The faculty learn from the students and in turn the students learn what the faculty teaches. We have a formal and informal on going educational pro- cess and each day we learn more from one another. We cannot depend on each other forever since none of us will be here that long. What we learn from each other and pass on to those after us, keeps all of us alive at least in spirit for more time than we spend on Mother Earth. What we learn from each other remains with us as a part of our lives forever.. We can be proud of who we are and proud of those who teach us. At Chinle High School we have a faculty of over I,000 people and those people are fresh- men, sophmores, juniors, seniors, teachers, aides, substi- tutes, secretaries, lunch aides, cooks, clerks, janitors, and administrators. When such a group of people can work together and care about each other, we do our teaching well and all our students, young and old alike wilI eat for a lifetime. And in such a setting as this, Chinle High School can be spelled P-R-I-D-E. 2lPrincipal's Message ,XVM l Mr. Jim Grear, Principal If gf X . There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under heaven: A time for giving birth, a time for dying, a time for planting, a time for uprooting what has been planted. A time for killing, a time for healing, a time for knocking down, a time for building. A time for tears, a time for laughter, a time for mourning, a time for dancing.
