Dear Diary, Halloween is here! Tonight the Junior Class presented the Hallow¬ een Carnival which was preceded by a talent show and the crowning of the King and Queen. Bonnie Stirewalt was a beautiful queen. I remember the excitement of casting votes and the look on her face when she was crowned. Ah, twas a lovely sight. The race was close, the competition keen, and when the winner was announced the applause was tremendous.

JOHN ROBERT STIREWALT Quiet but not so quiet after all. J. W. TORRENCE, JR. Cursed is the man who invented books. ROBERT HARRISON WADDELL When athletics and studies clash, let studies go to smash. WINFRY EVANS WHICKER A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men. Seniors! Dear Diary, this has been our every dream and yet too soon it is coming to a close. We will very shortly be stepping into a huge and magnificent world as adult men and women, no longer to be considered Children. Though we are a very small class of sixty-two, we are leav¬ ing behind us a great challenge to the lower classes. Wmfry Whicker led the class as president. Larry Patterson was elected as president of the Student Council. Peggy Jo Sasser stood with him as secretary. Margie Martin and Jerry Bradshaw were greatly welcomed into our class as fellow seniors. Our greatest task was to publish the annual. Philip Mauldin served as editor-in-chief. Our colors were chosen as orchid and pink with the beautiful flower, an orchid. The trip to Washington in the spring will be long remembered by many of us. The Junior-Senior this time given m our honor, was marvelous. The producing of the Senior Play was wonderful, but it brought to realization that school was coming to an end.Senior privileges were certainly a new experience. Dear Diary, we do not know how to say thank you enough to our ad¬ visors, Mrs. Odell, Mrs. Smith, our principal, Mr. Price, and our dis¬ trict principal, Mr. Carson, for their everlasting patience and advice which they gave so freely. We pray that we shall always endeavor to hold fast to our aims and goals. That we shall always try to fulfill our motto: Sic Parvis Magna (From small, comes great.) HELEN FRYE, Historian Dear Diary, Our record would not be complete if we did not include one of the most important characters around our school-our janitor, Walter Caldwell. Page Twenty-Six

AVIS ARANT Dear Diary, One of the most beautiful girls my eyes ever beheld is the adora¬ ble Avis Arant. she rode m the Kannapolis Christmas parade as Miss Merry Christmas, she was ever so lovely. The day of the Salisbury Veteran ' s Day Parade found her blue eyes sparkling and her hair shin¬ ing as though it were golden, as she rode proudly past, wearing the title of Miss China Grove. Another title, too. That of Miss China Grove High does she honor¬ ably possess. Page Twenty-Eight
