He has encouraged our student body toward greater participation in school activities, thereby boosting our school spirit. His dedication to Chilton High is illustrated in his willingness to assist in many extra curricular activities. He was assistant football coach and coach of our first wrestling team this year. Mr. Fitzpatrick was born in Milwaukee and graduated from Lomira High School. He attended St. Norbert’s College for one year and spent his next years at WSU-Oshkosh where he earned his B.S. degree. Four years ago he came to Chilton High School. In 1967-68, he obtained a leave-of-absence and acquired his Master’s degree. Besides teaching Senior Math, Algebra II, and Intermediate Math, Mr. Fitzpatrick has participated actively in the Chilton Education Association, and was recently elected its president. It is our sincerest hope that Mr. Fitzpatrick will remain at Chilton High and continue to be an inspiration to his students. 2 Dear Students, Another school year is coming to a close: an eventful year in which man conquered space and set foot on the surface of the moon and a year in which a CHS football team conquered all its opponents and went through a season unbeaten and untied. Though the first was an historic achievement of the highest degree and the latter, in contrast, a relatively simple event, both are accomplishments in which we may take pride and both demonstrate what can be done through dedication, cooperation and knowledge. Use every opportunity, in school and out, to develop these qualities. You’ll need them to face the challenge of the 70’s. Best wishes and good luck. A. W. Gordon A. W. GORDON, SUPERINTENDENT ADMINISTRATION TO THE CLASS OF 1970, The interest and concern of Chilton High School go with you into your life’s work. Your teachers are proud of you. They are confident of your ability and desire to contribute to society. We wish for you, as individuals and as a group, that happiness which comes to those who serve their fellow men. One should not minimize the magnitude of the problems which we all face today, but neither should one '‘undersell” the capacity of the intelligence of the disciplined mind. The major problems of our day are man-made and may be resolved by men of good will. 4 MELVIN DEY, PRINCIPAL BOARD OF EDUCATION A. W. Larson, A. Horst, D. Aebischer, H. Compton, D. Holst. Last year's king and queen, Darrell Sturtz and Sandy Geiger, enjoyed the evening with the rest of the crowd while Wesley, Wesley from Kiel provided the music. Ken Gasch, president of the sophomore class, acted as master of ceremonies for the dance. 53 THE CLIMAX TO A TRIUMPHANT SEASON: HOMECOMING Homecoming '69 opened with its annual festivities at 1:30 p. m. on October 10 when everyone joined in with enthusiastic cheers at the pep assembly. Each class interpreted Homecoming with a humorous skit depicting their spirit for the Tigers victory that night. After the pep assembly, hundreds of students and onlookers lined up along the streets of Chilton awaiting the traditional Homecoming parade. The wait was well worth it, for amid the music of the CHS Marching Band, the five queen candidates and the ingeniously created floats passed by along the winding parade route. The undefeated Chilton Tigers were challenged by the Valders team at 8 p. m. on Morrissey Field that evening. During half time, Pat Hoerth retired as last year's queen by presenting her crown to the 1969-70 Queen, Pat Woelfel. After half time, the.mighty Tigers continued to capture the fans’ emotions with their action-packed plays which culminated in a 33-0 victory. After the thrilling game, couples proceeded to the gym where the soft sounds of Herbie Schneider and his Band were presented. The court, entering at 10:30, consisted of Queen Pat Woelfel and King Chuck Kleinhans; Nancy Geiger escorted by Bob Schmitz; Mary Schaefer escorted by Mike Seiper; Kris Euclide escorted by Doug Steege; and Susi Schmahl escorted by Dale Koehler. Through the event ended at midnight, memories linger on. 54 THE HILLS EVEN SPELL OUT THE RANGE OF THE TIGER DOMAIN! FIRST PLACE FLOAT - SENIOR FLOAT JUNIORS 55 GIORGIO PATERLINI By definition, a happening is any occurrance or event. According to contemporary thought and modern usage, and happening is something to be enjoyed because of its difference and excitement. As foreign representative from Italy to the United States and Chilton High School, Giorgio Paterlini's appearance here qualifies for both definitions. George, as we have grown accustomed to calling him lived with the Don Sattler family and he shared his life with Dwane, a senior, and Dexter, a junior. George has made life different for all of us. Of course, it took a while for George to acquaint himself with us and our habits, and we with his. But, the gap was quickly dissolved and George and the students of CHS became good friends. Hopefully, George will take back to Italy long-lasting memories of the students at CHS that he leaves behind as well as material souvenirs. It certainly goes without saying that the students and people of Chilton will remember him. 56 U.S.A. It is an organization enabling students from all four classes to be active in school affairs, thereby developing qualities of leadership, a sense of responsibility, and participation in our American democratic principles of government. Members of the organization are the four class officers from each class and four other members from each class elected by their respective classes. 60 NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The ideals of the National Honor Society are scholarship, character, leadership and service. The faculty chooses the members on the basis of these qualities each spring from the top twenty-five percent of the junior and senior classes. BANK FARM HOME SUPPLY AND Chilton, Wisconsin SERVICE CENTER Working on and completing the 1970 TIGERETTE was a “different” experience, to phrase it mildly. The majority of the staffheads has little or no experience with this facet of journalism, so we went into it “blind,” Yet, they worked diligently to produce something with which the public could be pleased, I believe we have succeeded in that endeavor. However, we couldn’t have progressed rapidly, or at all, if it wasn’t for the much needed advice that we received from our advisor, Mr. Augsburger, and the speedy photograph delivery we received from him. I hope that, years from now, people can page through this book and enjoy themselves as they sit back, reminisce, and recall fond moments from a past, but undimmed, time.
