“From A Misty Garden” Between eight and nine o'clock on the evening of Friday, April 29, 1966, approximately 100 couples gathered in the new gym and danced around the centrally located fountain to the music of Bob Mlada and his Orchestra. At 10:30, they watched as the court consisting of Nancy Hoerth and Bob Koch, Sherri Fritschka and George Lax, Kathryn Reinkober and Ron Nicolay, Kathy Scholz and A1 Geiser, and Mary Thielmann and Bill Ludwig marched to the chair amidst the garden scene where Shirley Woelfel was then crowned Queen of the 1966 Junior Prom by her escort Les Schneider. The King and Queen then led the grand march in which all the couples took part. Three hours of dancing in an atmosphere set by soft lights and dreamy music then followed during which couples visited and had refreshments in the beautifully decorated punchroom while others made wishes as they tossed coins into The Olde Wishing Well. Before leaving at 12:30 for the post prom party at the Altona, all took one last backward glance at what would remain in their memories forever. The night of From a Misty Garden.
