One very interesting use of yearbooks like this one, is to compare the pictures of the individuals in this year's book with the pictures of the same students in the yearbooks of three of four years ago. This comparison reveals the striking physical development that has taken place in that period of time. It would be even more striking if a way were open to make a visual comparison of the development of the mentalities, personalities and characters of the same individuals. Certainly there has been such growth. The amount of change that has taken place in each individual has depended on the use that each one has made of the opportunities for exercising his personal traits. Since there is no camera to offer such visual evidence of the developments of these characteristics, the belief in the improvements that have taken place must be based on less tangible evidence. The requests by prospective employers, colleges and training institutions of various kinds for the high school records of future personnel are proof that their experience proves high school graduates are the best candidates for a successful future. Requests are not made for just academic records either. They ask for estimates of intangible personal traits. It is evident they believe these things important and that they are developed in your school years. Many of you students have not completed your work in high school. You should make use of time and opportunity still left to you to grow to your maximum potential. You students who are graduating from high school deserve commendation for your many fine accomplishments. You have the best wishes of all of your teachers that you will continue to grow and develop to an even greater extent in the future. 4
