Senior History First Semester Officers ROW 1: Mary Hertel, Treasurer; Janice Welch, Secretary. ROW 2: Ralph Hillmann, President; Alan Depies, Vice-President. Second Semester Officers ROW 1: Darlene Nett, Secretary; Susan Laughrin, Treasurer. ROW 2: Paul Burbey, Vice-President; John Miller, President. September '55 we, the class of '59, entered high school as all freshmen do--bewildered, anxious and confused. We were the largest class, numbering 103, and at our first class meeting we elected Mary Hertel to be our president; Jim Westerhouse, Vice-President; Bill Schneider, Secretary; and Judy Schmahl, Treasurer. Our boys took up their interest with sports which were football, basketball, and baseball. Being freshmen, homecoming was something new for us and we managed somehow to decorate a float and string along with the exciting occasion. The approaching second semester brought a new set of officers with Paul Burbey as President; Janice Welch, Vice-President; Barbara Schmid, Secretary; and Mary Vogel, Treasurer. Our class as freshmen participated in all activities and enjoyed all Chilton High had to offer. With the beginning of our sophomore year we were a wiser group--so we thought, and following the usual procedure we began our year with the election of officers. Judy Schmahl was President; Mary Hertel, Vice-President; Susan Dhein, Secretary; and Barbara Schmid, Treasurer. As in the preceding year we found our boys doing their best in sports--first on the gridiron and later in basketball. We had Ann Binsfcld on the A squad for cheering, along with Sharon Sartori and Mary Vogel on the B squad. Meanwhile our girls were joining G.A.A., F.H.A., Library Club and the other activities. As time passed quickly, the second semester rolled around and we found the following as our newly elected officers--Paul Burbey, President; Virginia Geiser, Vice-President; Ann Binsfeld, Secretary; and Karen Cooper, Treasurer. The most important event of the year for us was the Heart Hop held February 15. Darlene Nett was chosen by the class as the class Sweetheart. Leaving school as sophomores we had only bigger and better things to look forward to as juniors and upperclassmen. In the fall of '57 we entered the halls of Chilton High confident and anxious to get in the spirit and swing of things. The first order of business again was class officers election with the following people elected: Mary Hertel, President; Virginia Geiser, Vice-President; Karen Coo r, Secretary; and Kathy Lefeber, Treasurer. Football being the first sport event of the year brought out a few juniors who were determined to do their best. Time also ushered in the basketball season with junior boys on the varsity and B squad. Ann Binsfeld, Sharon Sartori, Mary Vogel, Susie Laughrin, and Susan Dhein were among the cheerleaders who backed our team. The other juniors busied themselves with other extracurricular activities with Susan Dhein bringing home an A from state in Forensics. Finally came the second semester which would bring about our Prom King and really start things on their way for the important event on May 16. Paul Horst was elected President and King with Viola Roehrig as Queen and Vice-President. Peggy Wettstein became Secretary and Mary Hertel, Treasurer. On the Prom Court were Virginia Geiser and Paul Burbey, Suzanne Werner and John Miller, Peggy Wettstein and Ralph Hillmann, Geraldine Reimer and Ed Lodes, and Karen Cooper and Alan Depies. The theme for the dance was Oriental Paradise with Ron Harvey furnishing his wonderful music. The patiently awaited night passed too quickly. Immediately following this event came final exams and in no time we were on our way to becoming seniors. Our school now became good old C.H.S. to us, the proud seniors, as we began our last year realizing all things would be the last. To start things right we elected Ralph Hillmann as our class President, Alan Depies as Vice-President, Janice Welch as Secretary, and Mary Hertel as Treasurer. The entire school elected Mary Hertel and Paul Burbey as flag raisers--an honor reserved for seniors. David Whitby, Bill Schneider, Paul Burbey, Kurt Hof-meister, Dave Dombrock, John Miller (All-Conference Player) and Joe Schmidlkofer were the seniors who played first string and did a praiseworthy job. Then came the '58 Homecoming--excitement ran high in every respect. A lovely homecoming court was chosen--Ann Binsfeld, Barbara Schmid, Virginia Geiser, and Sue Laughrin with Mary Hertel reigning as queen of the gala affair. After the game everyone enjoyed dancing to the music of Herbie Schneider. Basketball season brought lots of spirit with Allie Schmidlkofer and Ken Suchan doing a tremendous job in helping the team. Three senior girls—Ann Binsfeld, Susan Dhein, and Sharon Sartori helped cheer the boys along on the A squad with Mary Vogel and Susan Laughrin on the B squad. For second semester officers the class elected John Miller, President; Paul Burbey, Vice-President; Susan Laughrin, Treasurer; and Darlene Nett, Secretary. Under these officers the seniors planned for their graduation and other senior affairs which were held in the remaining part of the year. All too soon June 4, 1959 came; we had to leave Chilton High, the fond memories it brought, activities participated in, and the faculty which helped us through these important years.

Class Will We, the Senior Class of Chilton High School, City of Chilton, County of Calumet, and State of Wisconsin, being of sound mind and body, do hereby publish and declare, this our last will and testament, sworn and subscribed before the class this 4th day of June, Nineteen Hundred and Fifty-nine. This document is as follows: To our Parents, we will our appreciation for giving us a chance to receive an education. To the Faculty, we will our thanks for their help in aiding us through our four years of education. To the Freshmen, we leave the greenness we wore off during the last years of our high school education and our pull with the faculty. To the Sophomores, we will our friendliness and our ability to get along with others. To the Juniors, we leave the beams on our faces so there will be brightness in school next year. I, Charlotte Dallmann will my black slacks to the motorcycle club. I, Robert Demi will just leave school with a sigh of relief. I, Martha Dernier will my deep thoughts in Chemistry to a future student. I, Alan Depies will my car to my brother Dale to come to school with next year. I, Susan Dhein will my dramatic ability to Leander Karls. I, Diane Dohr will my freedom to anyone who wants it. I, David Dombrock will my imagination to anyone having trouble with themes.
