ADMINISTRATION Dear Students: It is a pleasure and privilege to write a greeting for the Chiloc- coan. The 1968-69 school year has been one of our better years. About 1000 high school American Indian and Native Alaskan boys ,ind gills have taken advantage of in opportunities offered at Chi- iocco Most of you have realized many successes where previously you had few. These successes, we believe, should encourage you and give you practical experience in your adult life toward accom- plishing your individual goals. On behalf of the faculty and my- self. we take this opportunity to wish you continued success and happiness in your adult life. Leon Wall, Superintendent You Graduates of 1969 are to be congratulated for having accom- plished the goals you set out to achieve. These achievements make it possible for you to go farther toward larger goals that you have set for yourselves. As you reach one milestone another greater and more distant goal comes into your sight. You have a good start toward making your lives very important to yourselves and to other people. You can be proud of your progress. It is our sincere hope that the ed- ucational program you have fol- lowed here at Chilocco will en- able you to make wise decisions and that you will continue with confidence toward greater ac- complishments. Clarence Winston, Principal

FOREWORD A year has passed, and we, the annual staff, have done our best to capture some of the most memorable events; as well as classroom activities, sports activities, in- dividual students, and student groups of the 1968-69 school year and record them in the Chiloccoan. Our special thanks goes to Alfred Thomas for drawing the cover de- sign and to Joe Begay and Gilbert Harvey for drawing the designs for the divisional pages. DEDICATION We, the Senior class of 1968-69, proudly dedicate the 1968-69 Chiloccoan to Mr. Leonard Hathcoat, a former teacher of Chilocco. Mr. Hathcoat will long be re- membered for his unselfish work as a teacher and a senior class sponsor. Mr. Hathcoat was a math and science teacher for eight years and a social science teacher for sixteen years. He was a senior class sponsor for twenty years.
