ADMINISTRATION Dear Students: It is a pleasure and privilege to write a greeting for the Chiloccoan. The 1967-68 school year has been one of our better years. About 1100 high school American Indian and Native Alaskan boys and girls have taken advantage of the opportunities offered at Chilocco. Most of you have real- ized many successes where previously you had had few. These successes, we believe, should encourage you and give you prac- tical experience in your adult life toward accomplishing your individual goals. On benalf of the faculty and myself, we take this opportunity to wish you continu- ed success and happiness in your adult life. Leon Wall, Superintendent Graduation from high school is more im- portant today than it has ever been at any time in the past. This is an opening of opportunities to all young people who have the desire to go forward in new and interesting achievements. You who are graduating this year are ’to be commended for reaching this important point in your educational program. Grad- uation opens many avenues to you for more training and greater service. It chal- lenges you to exert effort and show courage which can bring many rewards.; To the students who are looking forward to the time when you too, will complete your high school program, may we extend our encouragement and our appreciation for the school work you are now doing. We feel sure the social and academic act- ivities you can engage in at Chilocco will enable you to continue your education and help you adjust to the needs of the future. Clarence W. Winston Principal

FOREWORD We, the members of the Annual Staff, have end- eavored to consolidate all of our happiest and most memorable events into the 1968 Chiloccoan. We extend our special thanks to James Etsitty for the fine artwork on the cover and division pages. We do sincerely wish the very best for each and. every graduating senior of 1968. Chilocco has been a major contributing factor and a great benfit to us. We hope the years spent here have produced the key to unlock the “Golden Door to Success”, making each of us self-sufficient, independent per- sons. To the undergraduates, we ask you to please pre- serve the traditions of Chilocco so dear to our hearts. Romania Helton, Editor DEDICATION In 1965, the swank, modern building which nestles in the southwest corner of the renowed Chilocco campus, was completed. After much thought and architectural planning, the afore-mentioned building, better known as the “New Dorm,” has emerged, as of yet, the most modern and colorful structure here. Its conveniences in- clude an intercommunication system, central air-conditioning and pool room. You must agree that Chilocco’s sophomore, junior, and senior boys live in the utmost comfort and unsur- passed luxury. Therefore, we, the Senior class of 1968, willingly dedicate to the “New Dorm,” the 1968 Chiloccoan. Romania Helton, Editor 2
