Our organization led the parade through the city, heading all other hands. That afternoon there was a mass concert in the American Royal lauild- ing, and our Band and Drum Corps again headed the parade into the arena. This year the Music Department has a new supervisor, R. The hand is active the year round,-1 playing at footloall games, pep assemhlies, music assemlolies, programs at the high school, at political rallies, and at various places during vacation, including the State Fair at Sedalia. It is possilole that the Drum Corps will go to Trenton this Fourth of July to par- ticipate in the annual celeloration sponsored loy the American Legion. They have taken part in this celeloration for many years. The Drum Corps also expects to go to the State Fair at Sedalia in August. 3 Many times this fall the Drum Corps has been chosen to march downtown before our football games in order to create pep for the game. At some games the girls paraded loetween the halves. The Drum Corps headed the hig parade lzmefore the Marceline game that was participated in hy all the high school students and organizations. I UUSTHI L HTS HE year 1936-37 has added another smashing success for the industrial Arts department of Chillicothe High School. The Mechanical Drawing and Manual Training courses were added to the curriculum of the schooi two years ago and proved to he such a hit with the students that they wi11 he continued. The first year was taught hy 1V1r. A. R. Bailey, who resigned to go to the Wichita High School where he is teaching these two suhjects. Mr. E. C. Ralston succeeded Mr. Bailey as teacher this year, and many interesting and usefui articles have heen made under his supervision. The Industrial Arts class this year has many advantages over the ctass of 1935-36 in that the shop is hetter equipped. A lathe and a scroll saw were E. C. Ralston . . . . Sponsor added this year, as welt as other hand tools. The tndustriat Arts class is one of the most interesting suhjects taught in C.H.S. and the training and experience pupils receive here not only enahtes them to make numer- ous heautifui articles in schoot, hut atso are very useful in later life. The Mechanical Drawing course, too, is very fascinating. In this course the students iearn to draw house plans and ohjects of wood and metal. Another interesting hranch of this course is the making of hiueprints. A htueprint is made merely for hetter preservation of the plan, and it is much easier to read. All in att, the Industrial Arts ctasses are two of the most popular and perhaps the most useful and practical of any taught in C.H.S. Page 52 ART INDUSTRIAL ARTS DATE Sept. 25 Oct. Oct.
