SEHICR PROPHECY It was a lovely warm day in June of l94O. I was strolling through the streets of Chicago when I ran into nSappon, an old comic friend of mine. He asked me to lunch with him at his home and having nothing else to occupy my mind, or rather my stomach, I accepted. Sappo was an inventor and scientist and was very en- thusiastic about his latest invention, UThe Elixir of Truth Powdern, which he expleined when sprayed on an endividual would make him tell the truth concerning anything asked him. I immediately thought of the Senior Class of Chili and hit- vpon a plan that would necessitate his cooperation. He was to permit me to spray this powder on him and then I would ask about each member of the class and see what they will be ten years from this day. He agreed, and after performing the necessary operation and arrangements, I hurried into my act because the effects of the powder might soon wear off. The following astonishing facts were revealed: Donnabelle Bemenderfer ran off and eloped with Bernard Keim. They journeyed to New York where they rented an a- partment.' Donnabelle, accustomed to singing while doing her housework, was one day overheard by a manager of an amgtugp program. She was given an audtion. She now sings over a nation-wide hook-up as NDonnie Bakern Keim. Lewis Landes is now known as HBenny Landesu and his trumpet. He leads a band, that according to the music crit- ics, is the hottest band in the land. And can they ever play the UBeer Barrel Polkanl Harriette Carpenter became married to Leedy Kellar, who shortly after their marriage was killed in an accident. Harriette set out to seek a job. Having a good voice, she signed up to sing with nBenny Landes'sH band and inciden- tally, it is rumored that Benny is intending to change her name o Glen Wisler has tried out at every big league training camp but failed to make the grade. He is now serving as an umpire for a Y.M.C.A. Junior Baseball League. This job pays well. He now owns more than three neckties and owns a thir- ty Model-A Ford. Now life whispers that we must Not let those careful teachings rust. We have our burdens, hurts, and pains, But countless are our pleasant things. Jeanne Keirn went to Hollywood, where she took a screen test, which was a complete failure. She is now work- ing as a clerk in a five and ten store and is in a sad state of despair due to her unsuccessful marriage to a milk man known as Leo Sullivan. , Ed TcAlister is now at the head of the Murphy estate. He is one of the most successful farmers around Chili. His son, Edward Jr. has recently joined the 4-H Club. Dortha Husselman and Gene were engaged, but due to cer- tain disagreements broke their engagement. Dortha is now a private secretary. She recently won the title of nMiss lndiana.n Eugene Grismore very discouraged from his broken en- gagement with Dortha, decided to commit suicide but then changed his mind. With a grim determination to fight for a place in life he became a leader of the P.W.A. project in Chili. Thelma Stone is still a shy little girl, who is now married to a prize fighter. He socked a ring on her finger, smacked her on the lips, embraced her with a left hook, and now the battle is on forever. Lee Gaff after graduating could not find his type of girl, so he left home and joined the navyt He is now one of their acc pilots and recently won a medal for outstanding bravery. Olive Lines is married to Frankie Wahlig, of course, They live in rooms over the garage, where he works. Frankie is now half-owner of the garage and Olive is president of the.Ladiestwaid.Society. Due to the fact that the effects of the powder have worn off considerably, we pause so, that we may add another shot of the Elixir, thus making this a more reliable source of information. Evelyn Dickerhoff is now the wife of Mr. Fred Wray who owns the Wray Lunch Room in Los Angeles. Incidcntally, Freddie Jr. has just recently recovered from an attack of thc'measles. S' 11S9l4C3i '
