B. Guy, Eddie Branson, Mr. H. C. Carter, COACH; Mr. Dickie Greer, COACH; Allen Hensley, Dean Cole, Mike Haga, Larry Neikirk, Larry Jennings, Tyrone Montgomery, Burton Martin, Mike Sturgill, Scott Foster, John Pierce, Mr. Don Ratcliff, COACH; Mr. Ron E. Ball, COACH. The Warrior Varsity football team ended the season with a 5-4-0 record. Scott Foster, a freshman, finished out the season as quarterback with a fine record of 687 yards rushing and five T.D, passes. Pete Sturgill, one of the two captains, won the Head Hunter Award. Mike Meade, who caught 24 passes with five of them leading to T.D. ' s, made All District — First Team Of¬ fense along with David Neikirk, First Team Defense. Pete Sturgill, Rob O ' Brien, Walter Pierce, Tony Clapp and Kavin Blevins made Second Team All District. 17

Eighth Grade And Junior Varsity The Eighth Grade Basketball team, coached by Mr. Don Ratcliff, compiled a season’s record of 14 wins as opposed to two losses. The leading scorer for the team was Greg Belcher, who also received an award for being chosen one of the five best players in the Eighth Grade Tournament which Chilhowie hosted. At the Eighth Grade Tournament, the team won second place from a field of eight teams. Eighth grade team members included Andy Overbay, Mike St. John, jay Thompson, Terry McReynolds, Mike Farris, Dickie Kegley, Jeff Rector, Greg Belcher, Jerry Mutter, Jackson Berry, Randy Miller and Sam Blevins. Eighth graders are shown after winning the Second Place Trophy in the Eighth Grade Tournament. Greg Belcher was named one of the top five players in the tournament, pictured below. 18 1
