Juniors Host Junior-Senior Prom Dim lights glowing, music playing, couples dancing — all were a part of “Seasons in the Sun”, the theme of the Junior-Senior Prom. The exciting evening occurred on May 4, 1974, at the Martha Washington Inn, Abingdon. C. T. Pilferhogg from Wise provided the music. Pictures of couples attending the prom were taken beneath a lovely full bloom dogwood outside the ballroom. Bebbie Clark and Yvette Thigpin, members of the Junior Class, were in charge of serving refreshments. They are pic¬ tured above as they served Mrs. Pansy R. Rollins, faculty member. Bill Huff and Rachel Reasor, above, posed for their pictures. Students enjoyed the music provided by the band, below left.

Academic Awards Are Presented On Awards Day 1974 The Awards Assembly, sponsored an¬ nually by the Monogram Club, was held on May 23, 1974. Mr. Kermit G. Nelson, one of the Monogram sponsors, acted as Mas¬ ter of Ceremonies. At this assembly, various presentations were made to faculty members, students and to Mr. Cleve Compton, principal, on behalf of the school. Receiving Boys’ Physical Education Awards from Mr. H. C. Carter, Jr., upper photo, were Richard Richardson, outstanding in grades 8-10, William Kelly, tenth grade, Charles Musser, ninth grade and Charles Tucker, eighth grade. King College Science Awards were presented to Kerry Donnelly and Carolyn Martin, ABOVE, by Mr. R. Dwight Barker. Mr. Charles Wallace, band director, presented All Regional Band Awards to Vickie Blevins, Beth Bonham, Amanda DeBusk and Bettv McKee, RIGHT. 20
