The Mathematics Department offers courses in both general and college preparatory math. Eighth graders in their math classes studied equations and had an introduction to trig func¬ tions, while freshmen not enrolled in Algebra I took general Math 9. The college preparatory courses included algebra, geometry, and trigo¬ nometry. Algebra 1 and II classes spent much time in learning to factor equations, and geo¬ metry classes worked with logarithms, geo¬ metric proofs, and the slide rule. Trig students used both new information, and information obtained from previous math classes in proving identities. Top left: Glenn McKee shows how math is the door to opportunity in many Helds.
