During the school day the department also provided classroom drivers’ education. After school and in the summer physical education teachers gave behind-the- wheel instruction to those students who qualified for it. At left: Boys’ P.E. class 19

BUSINESS DEPARTMENT The Business Department provided stu¬ dents with the opportunity to develop those skills needed in the business world. This year Clerk Typist I and II, both two-hour classes, replaced Office Procedures. These classes in¬ cluded a combination of bookkeeping, typing, and the use of various business machines, such as the calculator, which Joan Worley operates below. Bookkeeping students worked with journals, balance sheets, income statements, and ledger accounts. General Businesss courses provided practical knowl¬ edge, including the preparation of income tax forms. Shorthand and typing proved useful to many students.
