Honor Society Both Provide Able Leadership . . . the SCA helped in getting a juke¬ box for the cafeteria, sponsored clean¬ up day, and held campaigns and elec¬ tions for next years’ SCA officers. Providing a new trophy case was the main objective of the National Honor Society this year. In order to obtain this objective members worked hard to prepare for “The Battle of the Bands,’’ which proved to be a great success. Ten sophomore students, chosen on the qualities of character, leadership, service and scholarship, were induct¬ ed into the club during a school as¬ sembly and new officers were in¬ stalled. The club also was in charge of coordinating American Education Week, diu’ing which time it sponsored Kiddie Kollege in assembly. 25

Student Cooperative Association And National The SCA began the school year with the thought of providing new handbooks for next years’ students and of improving and beautifying the school. A major handbook fund-raising project was Carnival Day. At this event all clubs and classes had fun booths with the proHts being divided between the SCA and the various organizations. The SCA diving booth proved to be one of the most hilarious events and attracted students as well as the faculty. To culminate its projects .. . 24

Various activities kept members of the vocational clubs busy during the year. A major project of the FFA was the landscaping of the new agriculture building. At a Student-Parent ban¬ quet members received awards for outstanding service in vocational ag¬ riculture. The club was also repre¬ sented in a statewide public speaking contest. “To dare to care” was the motto for the FHA during the year. The main objective was to teach young ladies responsibilities of family and com¬ munity . . . 26
