Competitive sports provide the atmos¬ phere in which good sportsmanship may be practiced at Chilhowie High. The Warriors field varsity teams in football, basketball, baseball, track, goK, and girls ' basketball. Chilhowie High is a mem¬ ber of District 6, one of the strongest Group H districts in the state. The athletic pro¬ gram at Chilhowie High is constantly chang¬ ing and improving to keep pace with district rivals. The cheerleaders encourage good sportsmanship and school spirit through pep rallies and posters appropriate for each competition. The Chilhowie Lions Club each year presents an award at graduation to the athlete who during the year has displayed the best sportsmanship. Although being a winner is important, emphasis is not placed solely on winning at CHS. Teamwork, fair play, and self disci¬ pline are main objectives of the athletic program.
