FOREWORD This year has been a year of progress and growth at Chilhowie High School. With the opening of the school year we advanc- ed into the five-year system, thus providing the students with a more comprehensive coarse. The school enrollment was the largest in its history with a total of three hundred eighty- seven students, eighty-six of whom made up the Senior Class of 1959. December 2, 1958 will long be remembered as the day we moved into our new high school building, which has many conveniences we never enjoyed before , i n c I u d i n g among many other attractions a beautiful and acoustically-built auditorium, a large gymnasium with adequate showers, a we 1 1 -equipped laboratory, spacious library and office s , and well-lighted classrooms. These and other improvements provide a more pleasant, convenient, and satisfactory atmosp- here in which we can work and develop better study habits. Our added facilities enables us to have county and district events, thereby fostering friendliness, sociability and co-operation. We hope that 1959 will be remembered as the year which marked the opening of a new era of progress and growth in Chilhowie High School.
