to the faculty. We were proud, too, because we were the largest Freshman Class ever at CHS. Nancie Warren was class president. With a few drop-outs we entered our second year in high school. 1956: Our Sophomore year began rather well with a total enrollment of one hundred twelve. As underclassmen still, we had a lot to learn, but we were still progressing at a rapid pace. David Blevins was president alongwith an all- male slate of officers, a fact which was very unusual. That season our foot- ball team was a top contender for the District Seven championship but lost to Abingdon. However, we were ve ry proud that our Seniors devolop skills in typing amid the pleasant, comfortable surroundings of the new well-lighted business depart- ment. WILLIAM THOMAS FREEMAN Tom F. F.
