342 MQGHQAE . . . We, the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquillity, provide for the common defense, promote the generalwelfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Con- stitution for the United States of America. OPQLUOI' For many years numerous schools in this area operated on a small scale. The main objec- tive of these schools, as in all schools, was to produce good citizen-young men and women who would work in unison for the common good of all. In order to coordinate their facilities and modernize their methods, two of these schools, Burnham and Derry formed a iointure on July l, 1951. The primary obiective of this iointure remains the same as thatof the small school districts of not so long ago, to build better citizens for tomorrow. Even more recently, the Decatur School District has been added to this iointure. We, the students of Chief Logan High School, must realize that we are the citizens, the builders of tomorrow. We are fortunate to live in a land of great opportunities, made possible largely through the efforts of our democratic form of government. We are not fully aware of the important part that our government plays in our lives. In order that we may humbly display our gratitude, our thanlcfulness that we live in such a great country, the seniors of Chief Logan High School through this yearbook have attempted to show the similarity between our school life and our democraticform of government, so well pre- sented in the Preamble to the Constitution. In view of the fact that our school is in its first few trying years of iointure, the opening lines of the Preamble quite appropriately apply, In order to form a more perfect union. ln order to establish iustice, our school is proudly blessed with a capable and efficient administra- tion. Various extra-curricular activities promote the wise use of leisure time so that we may insure our domestic tranquillity. For the express purpose of promoting the general welfare, our faculty is attempting to provide us with a well rounded education, primarily that we, as the future citizens, may contribute toward thecommon good - the general welfare of all. Therefore, this Legend is presented with the hopes that the students of Chief Logan High School will strive toward those principles setdown in the Preamble to the Constitution. We sin- cerely believe that through the wise use of our school years we may be better equipped to reach this goal and, therefore, be better qualified to take our place in the world. Z
