Queens College Charlotte, North Carolina Cindy Beyer, Editor Susan Ellsworth, Assistant Editor Robin Faircloth, Assistant Editor Anne Taylor, Photography Editor Anne Shuford, Photography Editor Ellen Templeton, Art Editor Let us take a walk ... one which incorporates all senses. The issues discussed were never made up without the assistance of another. Let us take a walk through the ever-expanding fields opened up in the casual manner of being and knowing. Come ... take my hand let us visit this land where memories are important where you can be like you want to be Let us take this one more walk not a conclusion of the many we have taken but a continuation of the one we began not too long in the past There is no need for completion of this walk the memories are many hopes are just as varied but our friendship shall continue like the many issues we invented. This is the time when we must look at the memories but continue to move with the change of traffic. No end has come there's time for that in tomorrows So. .. let us continue the walk we began not so long ago in the past. It means get- ting acquainted with roommates, Queens buddies and faculty ad- visors. It means deciding which courses to take by registration day and whether to sign up for that eight o'clock class or not. It means being a part of an allstar skit and sunbathing at Lake Norman. To begin at Queens means to join together in learning, fun and friendship. Stunt Night mm ■ Stunt Night is the night that talent comes alive among students and some of the most unusual personalities are dis- played. Congratulations goes this year to the seniors who finally won after a long struggle. Parents, students and faculty all enjoy the fun and festivities of Parent's Weekend at Queens. Students proudly present parents to admired professors, crazy roommates and special friends. The week- end is highlighted by Stunt Night and of course, good food. Parent's Weekend Senior Recognition Day spotlights the seniors and the important role they fulfill in our student body. The day begins with an assembly both to honor their accomplish- ments and to admonish them not to be D.O.A., as Ginny Lewis puts it, upon graduation. Throughout the day underclass- men discover that all those somber and studious people in black are also our out- standing school leaders, talented performers and enthusiastic friends. At the close of the day Seniors serenade the dorms and Dr. Canon. mwm Black Friday Auction How about a ski trip or dinner with a favorite professor? President Canon and Dr. Tyson auctioned off these and many other goodies between sighs of excitement, awe and relief from stu- dents as the bids went higher and high- er. Boar's Head The annual Christmas dinner at Queens heralds an old English tradition. For students the fun and feasting of the Boar's Head Dinner also includes formal attire which is far from the customary blue jeans. 39 L Moravian Love Feast This special service held in the chapel strengthens and unifies the Christmas spirit. Love is symbolized both in the lighting of the candles and in the sharing of rolls and coffee. However, it is not only symbolized but it is heartfelt too. Yule Log Queens' students express the warmth and good cheer of the Christmas sea- son with candles, Christmas carols and sprigs of holly. The fire of the yule log claims special wishes and brightens many hopes for a very happy new year. On March 3, 4, and 5 Symposium was held and consisted of debates, lectures, and slide presentations on the various aspects of the media and its influence on American society. The speakers included Robert Goralski presenting The Media: Fact or Fiction? , Les Whitten and William Rusher in a debate on How Free Should the Press Be? and a slide presentation on Women in Films — What's Their Image?
